Our Story

Our story reflects that the Lord's timing is the best!

It all begins when Shane is led to work in the Emmaus kitchen. After being given opportunities to leave and move on from work in the kitchen after a couple of months. The Lord made it clear that He wanted Shane to stay in the kitchen. That is when Rosie and Shane become friends.

And just in Shane fashion, he got to know the people around him. Becoming friends with all the kitchen workers. But one conversation stuck out more than the others and that is when Rosie and Shane had a quick yet crucial conversation about missions and how they both were interested in going overseas.

At the start of the next work year, Rosie was living life, chillin', having fun, and Shane was focused on ministry as a good Christian boy. And that is where Shane was (as he put it) slapped in the face with feelings. Shane started crushing on Rosie. With the guidance of Linda Johnson and Lori Stoltz. Shane and Rosie then worked on almost everything in the kitchen together. They then started to talk a lot outside of work like every kid these days, over social media and texting. And by the beginning of November, there was some tension in the kitchen. And people (observant ones) started to take notice.

November 19th was the last day of work before Thanksgiving break. And at this point, Shane was overwhelmed by feelings. After seeking advice and guidance earlier. He prayed specifically for the lord to give him a moment to tell Rosie that, "he liked that they talked a lot and that they should continue to talk". He has no intentions of telling her his feelings yet.

As the week went on he never found or was given a good natural time to talk to her. On November 19th, Rosie got off early and was about to leave. As Rosie is walking to her car, Shane runs out the kitchen door and gets her attention. Shane then proceeds to tell Rosie that he likes talking to her. Which Rosie said she also likes talking to him. “Good signs” Shane was thinking… probably. So Shane just continued and told Rosie that he had liked her for a while now and had feelings for her. Rosie all choked up says “Really”? Which is not the best thing to respond with and kind of scared Shane. But unbeknown to Shane, Rosie was praying about her feelings a week prior not knowing what they were, and asking God if He could make it clear to her. She then responds to Shane that she likes him too.

A very awkward moment for the two but a moment that they wouldn't take back.

We both love our story as to us it's a testimony of God's timing and his deliverance. On how he guided us to one another. And how he prepared us and delivered us to that moment. It is all a reflection on how Jesus has delivered all of us from sin and that God has restored us and has a larger purpose, which we get to be a part of in all different ways!
