On a seemingly ordinary Saturday night in May of 2019. Our bride to be who was supposed to be in Queens, and our groom who was dragged out by some unlikely friends is where our love story begins. At the now closed Lola's Kitchen in White Plains our couple was brought together by hookah, frustration, and Jahsi's attempt at being a good wingman. They quickly bonded over their love of NY sports teams, and with no romantic intentions from either side, mainly due to their difference in age and sheer obliviousness they started their romantic journey as just friends who frequented the same stadiums.
After weeks of their schedules not aligning, Ruby took the initiative and reached out in a way that Jahsi couldn't ignore to secure a date. She made a call to the Domino's Pizza on Boston Rd in the Bronx and asked to speak with the General Manager. Little did she know, due to the store being busy Jahsi had just instructed his delivery drivers to put all customers on hold until he got a moment. That moment didn't come until long after Ruby hung up. But thankfully he recognized her name on the caller ID of the phone that was left off of the hook. He called her back and apologized and asked what he could do to make it right and Ruby smoothly asked to go on a date with the General Manager.
After a disastrous first date where Jahsi was noticeably nervous due to his inability to make eye contact and the fact that he wouldn't shut up about his best friend Tim. Ruby needed convincing from a friend to give him a chance at a second date. She finally agreed to go bowling with him where their competitive natures took over and allowed Jahsi to be more of his charismatic self. They went to dinner afterwards which Ruby had to pay for because she had lost. (Which he learned years later she was still not happy about) There the couple began to see that they shared a lot more in common than just a love of sports. This lead to them sharing their first kiss at Billy's Sports Bar after a Yankees win, and Jahsi inviting Ruby to meet Tim and his family at Tiki Day in Mahopac as his Girlfriend even though he never officially asked her out.
Fast forward three years later, after many memories and a pandemic. Ruby had a secret that she had been keeping from Jahsi. She decided that while they were away for Jahsi's college roommates wedding that she had to tell him. This decision was mostly due to the fact that she would be expected to drink large amounts of alcohol all weekend. Ruby anxiously told him that she believed that she was pregnant and was worried how he would respond. Jahsi at first was stunned, but his astonishment was quickly replaced by joy as he exclaimed "I'm gonna be a Dada!". As they hugged Ruby felt relieved and excited for this next part of their journey.
With all that comes with preparing to be new parents our bride had no idea what her now baby daddy was planning. Even though she had a pretty spot on dream that almost ruined the surprise. Ever since Jahsi realized that Ruby was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with he had the perfect plan. This involved Ruby's favorite player, a couple of signed jerseys, and the words Will You Marry Me. She said Yes, and now all that is left is to celebrate our special day with each and every one of you.
