Our Wedding

Megan and Ryan first met eyes at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in 2018. It was a love-at-first-sight moment. Ryan tells his good friend Devin "This feels different." Ryan and Megan had been talking on Bumble, a dating app, for a few days when it came out that they would both be attending the festival with friends. That's when they decided to meet. They made small conversation while listening to Emmylou Harris and after an instant connection, made plans for a first date. Their first date was a hike to Muir Beach on a beautiful fall afternoon. They had lunch at the Pelican Inn and got to know each other while eating, lying on the beach, and hiking. These three activities are still activities they love to do together regularly. Their connection grew as they learned of each other's common interests and philosophies. Both works in fields helping people, both travelers, campers, dancers, hikers, and foodies; They knew they could build a happy, meaningful life early on.

Memory Lane

I am very excited to have my favorite (okay, only) sister join me as my maid of honor. We grew up sharing a room and that led to a lot of fighting growing up. Fortunately, over the years we have grown closer, and even voluntarily went to college together! Mollie is smart, artistic, and kind. One of our favorite pastimes is playing games together and when she was bored with the games we owned, Mollie would design and build whole games for us, complete with a handmade board, playing pieces, rules, and strategy--when she wants to do something, she just does it. That adventurous spirit has driven her to study in Brazil, teach in Greece, and live in New Zealand. Her creativity and drive know no limits, and I admire those qualities about her.  I am grateful to have her in my life and by my side as I marry the love of my life.

Mollie Brahan-Penberthy

Moraima and I first met in elementary school, but really became inseparable in middle school when she helped me stand up to my bullies. She is beautiful, has a heart of GOLD, and amazing dance moves. 'Mo' is that friend who transforms me into a younger version of myself whenever we spend time together. No matter how much time has passed, we are soon transported back to the playground; we play and laugh until we cry. I am elated my forever "Turtle Buddy" can join me on this day.

Moraima Logan

Lisa and I first met at an event for students at UCLA preparing to study abroad. We connected immediately while studying in Madrid and have been each other's "travel bucketlist" buddy ever since. Lisa is fiercely loyal and kind, she is someone I have always been able to turn to for help and honesty (even when I didn't want to hear it). I feel so fortunate to have her joining me on my wedding day.

Laura is my sister from another mother. She's probably my oldest friend since our mom's are best friends. Laura has the kindest soul I know. She never judges anyone and could make friendly conversation with a fly--a skill I have never mastered. She's also my steadfast travel buddy, fellow foodie, and ALWAYS down for an adventure. If you want to go surfing or cliff jumping, horseback ride in Cuba or travel hours to go apple picking on a whim, Laura is your girl. Can't wait to share this day with her.

Laura Ray

"Beanz" and I first met on the playground in Elementary school, likely playing kickball. We continued that friendship attending (in typical Berkeley fashion) both "Girls" sport summer camps and those intended for boys, as well as children's theater shows. Though we lost touch when we went to different middle schools, we reconnected when our moms formed the "Walking Women" and have seen each other through some rough times. Beanz is every bit as friendly and animal-loving as she was when we first met, but has also grown into a self-motivated entrepreneur I admire (look to her for an amazing haircut or color before the wedding!) I am thrilled she agreed to support me on this day.

Bina Ciddio-Morris

Mynette is my soon to be sister-in-law and an awesome friend. Always optimistic, jubilant, and ready for adventures; she is equal parts badass and sweetheart. We love to go skiing together, enjoy delicious meals, and talk for hours. I am grateful to her for everything she does for the Boykin family, but especially for how she supported the love of my life when he was growing up, shaping him into the mature, generous, and caring man he is today—it all started with that Metallica concert! I can’t wait to share this day with her.

My nephew Kaleb has always been more like a brother to me with an age difference of only nine years. When I was in junior high and high school, Kaleb lived close by in Rocklin. We grew up skateboarding, dirt biking, playing video games, and swimming in the backyard pool. These childhood experiences created a bond between us that is forever growing.

Adam and I were neighbors in the "Penthouse Apartments" when I was in college. Our common interests in philosophy and adventure sprouted a lifelong friendship.  We've helped each other through relationship struggles and life-changing choices. Adam will always be the go-to friend for advice and perspective. No matter how much time passes between visits, we seem to understand each other on a deep level and pick up right where we left off. 

Adam Decker

Isaac and I got to know each other through our shared passion for climbing. We climb around three days a week, every week. Through our climbing experiences, we've learned to trust each other with our lives which creates a special bond. He's a trustworthy, loyal, enthusiastic friend that I am inspired by. He is someone dedicated to improving himself in every way and lives his life in pursuit of happiness and adventure. 

Isaac Perloff

Devin was with me the day Megan and I met. Devin is kind and full of energy. It's hard to find Devin without a smile on his face. He's authentic and cares about the finer details of things. This comes through in his work as a chef.  He will surprise you with his wealth of knowledge in one of his many interests.  Devin and I are known for going on long hikes discussing philosophy. His great energy and interesting perspective make Devin one of my closest friends.

Devin Solkov

Ryan and I have known each other the longest of any of the groomsmen. We both went to grammar school together. We loved climbing trees and doing things we weren't supposed to as kids, and things haven't changed very much. Ryan came down to visit me in San Diego one summer and decided that's where he needed to live. Three weeks later, he was on his way to making that happen.  Ryan is respectful, optimistic, and treats his friends like family. Our long-lasting friendship is something I appreciate very much.

Ryan Burns

Patrick and I went to junior high and high school together in Grass Valley, but we really became close friends after high school. Patrick has since become one of my very best friends. We've connected over working in the fire service, snowboarding, climbing, and getting outdoors as much as possible. He takes good care of his friends and is always up for exploring somewhere. He is someone I cherish and respect very much.

If you can, we strongly recommend renting a car at the airport (or sharing a car) to get around Loomis, Auburn, and the neighboring areas. Public transportation is limited. Uber and Lyft are available, but depending on your weekend activities, it may be more cost-effective to have a rental car.

Renting a Car

We recommend flying in to Sacramento Airport (SAC) if your stay is short, Sacramento is about 25 minutes from Loomis. If you are planning on exploring Northern California any longer, San Francisco International or Oakland International are about a 2 hour drive from the venue (without traffic).

Airports

We have a courtesy room block at this Holiday Inn for the Friday and Saturday of our wedding weekend. It is about 13 minutes from the venue. The discounted rate will only be available for bookings made before 4/13/22. Where to stay

Alfred, the very kind owner of this family-owned historic Inn and B&amp;B can handle bookings personally by text at 916-425-9360 (mention MegRyan), or through his website above. The Inn is just a few blocks from our other room block and less than 15 minutes from the venue.

North Lake Tahoe is about a 1.5 hour drive from our venue if you're looking for a longer trip or bigger exploring day. It is worth a trip. There are endless things to do up there yearround.

Ikeda's

Searchable on google maps!Also known as "Twin Bridges", this is one of our favorite river spots on the Yuba. The water will likely be too cold to swim in in May but it is beautiful and if you're up for a hike, venture upstream on the path on the far side of the bridge and you'll find a bunch more swimming holes.

Auburn is definitely the closest to the venue at less than 15 minutes away, it used to be our state's capitol. Grass Valley is a great historic Gold town. It's a great place to window shop (vintage, antiques, trinkets). Check out Mill Street. Be forewarned, of these three cities, Nevada City has definitely been the most mask-conscious Nevada City is another funky town and of these three is our favorite. Grab lunch (perhaps after visiting Empire Mine SP?) Peruse shops on Broad Street, or enjoy homemade ice cream at "Treats". This is where the hippies live.

Explore Downtown Auburn, Grass Valley, or Nevada City

Water is likely freezing in May but for our adventure-junkie friends this was a great experience for us and a group of friends. There are many different tour companies which will lead guided trips and the different forks of the river offer different difficulty levels.

If you have more than a few days before or after the wedding, consider a trip to the Bay Area. In the East Bay, Berkeley is our favorite destination (Megan's hometown). There is great food and shopping in the "Gourmet Ghetto" on Shattuck Ave., on Fourth St., and on College Ave. in the Elmwood neighborhood (continuing on to Rockridge).In the City, there is far too much to see. We love Golden Gate Park, The Mission, NoPa, and the Fillmore District.In the North Bay. A day trip could take you across the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito. We like to take this trip on bikes. Or for a longer venture, drive the windy roads to Stinson beach or Point Reyes National Seashore.For more recommendations, contact Megan or Ryan directly.

As we all know, the past two years have been incredibly tough for everyone. As front-line workers we have seen firsthand how destructive this virus can be. The last thing we would want is a celebration of our love to result in an outbreak. More than anything we want to make everyone feel safe and protected, especially those attendees with immune-compromising conditions. We are therefore requiring that all our guests be vaccinated against COVID-19. We believe it is the best way to protect each other while still enjoying an amazing party together. Further details will be released closer to the wedding date. We really hope you can make it! Update 3/6/22:In accordance with relaxed CDC restrictions and improved case numbers, we will be allowing those guests who test the day of the event to join for the outdoor portion of the wedding (our ceremony and extended cocktail hour-- please reach out to us personally if this applies to you).
