Plataran Komodo is a small villa resort directly on the beach, located 10 mins drive from the town. All of the events on the wedding day will be hosted at various venues on the resort.
Plataran Komodo just won an award for being the "Best for Romance" for 2025, so a very fitting place to host a wedding!
Since this is a very small resort, with very limited number of rooms, we expect that our guests will stay at some of the nearby hotels.

1. Definitely have WhatsApp installed and working. This is critical, and this is how we will message you and the preferred method of communication for Southeast Asia.
2. While some of the nicer restaurants and shops will accept credit card, many of the smaller places will only accept cash (Indonesian Rupiah), and we recommend that you have some cash on you
3. SIM cards can typically be purchased from the airport when you arrive to give international guests data that can be used for WhatsApp. For guests from Singapore or travelling through Singapore, the Singapore SIM cards often work in Indonesia so we highly recommend just getting a SIM card in Singapore that covers about 10 countries in Southeast Asia.
4. Visitors on a Canadian Passport (and maybe others) will need a Visa On Arrival (cost is about $50 Canadian, and can be done online before your trip which is highly recommended). If you do the VOA when you arrive, you will need to pay in Indonesian Rupiah in Cash (about 525,000 IDR).
5. The main language is Bahasa Indonesia, however quite a few locals will be able to speak some basic English, so you'll be fine! Google translate is easy to use if you need it!
Ideally, about 4 nights should be enough to explore the main island and chill at your hotel/resort. You can add (or squeeze in) a full-day tour to the smaller islands around Labuan Bajo, that are mentioned in βThings to Doβ (we can provide a recommended day trip operator if you want).
For anyone adventurous who are interested to add on a live-on-board boat stay either before or after the wedding, usually it's typically 2 or 3 nights on the boat itself. So in total, it might end up being a week in Labuan Bajo.
We're hoping for warm and sunny days! Indonesia is a tropical country - March is the shoulder season where there is a transition from rainy season to summer. Even when raining, it'll still be fairly warm. Wear something that is comfortable and breathable if you sweat a lot (like Ryan does)! And note that the dress code is Beach Casual (see the homepage for more details on what Beach Casual means!)
1. Bali (highly recommended). Bali is only an hour flight away and is the most famous island in Indonesia. There is a rich culture (that is different from the Labuan Bajo culture) and the natural scenery includes beaches, mountains, and rice paddy fields
2. Lombok/Gili islands for the more adventurous (especially Gili Trawangan, often referred to as "Gili T"). A very small laid-back island with no cars - only horse cart and bikes as the transport. Enjoy the slow-living vibes in various hotels/resorts with beautiful beaches!
