Each section is separated by various areas in DFW. Denton - where the hotel is for out of town guests and the closest large city to the venue. Dallas - this is Downtown Dallas which is much more of a big, fancy city vibe; also closest area to LoveField Airport. Fort Worth - this is the other major city in the area that is known mostly for its western vibes; it is referred to as the first city of the West and Cow-Town. Plano - Courtney's hometown. Flower Mound Area - Ryan's hometown and closest area to DFW Airport.
This is our home church! We absolutely adore the preaching staff at Citizens and always leave admonished by the Word of God. This is our top recommendation for anything you do the weekend of our wedding! Service times are 9am and 11am, and child care is provided. The worship is a contemporary service.
If you are looking for a traditional church service, please visit Courtney's parents' church in Plano! The traditional services are at 9:30am in the Sanctuary and 11am in the Hasley Chapel.
While we have not attended a service, dear friends are closely tied with Denton Bible Church, and it is a trustworthy, Bible-teaching congregation nearby our recommended hotel! Services are at 9am and 11am.
Our home church is one that was planted by the Village Church Flower Mound, so if you find yourself in Ryan's hometown, this is a congregation we feel confident in recommending! Services are at 9am and 11:15am.
If you're venturing to Downtown Dallas, we encourage you to stop by our sister church - Northway! It is very similar to Citizens Church (where Ryan and Courtney go), and it has a vibrant young adults community. Service times are 9am, 11:15am, and 4pm.
Queenie's Steakhouse is a nicer option if you are looking for a nice place to eat while you visit the Denton area. Check out their menu as they typically have unique selections of meat (in addition to traditional chicken, steak, fish) such as elk, rabbit-rattlesnake, bison, and quail.
Graffiti Pasta is a great Italian option recommended by friends who grew up in Denton.
Recommended by friends from Denton, El Taco H boasts yummy birria tacos and other Mexican dishes!
Looking for breakfast in Denton? Seven Mile is a highly praised brunch spot with many locations all over DFW! They include many vegan options, if that suits your fancy! Ryan loves the cinnamon roll pancakes, the gravy train, the southern benny, and the monte cristo!
If you're looking for authentic Texas barbecue in Downtown Dallas, look no further than Pecan Lodge. This is an easy option that is regularly open and doesn't sell out too fast in the day while maintaining one of the top ratings for barbecue in Dallas.
Ryan and Courtney frequent the ice house when dog sitting Courtney's nephew, Boz. The Ice House is a staple on the Katy Trail that is always crowded (expect long waits if you want to sit outside), but has one of the liveliest environments of any Dallas restaurant. The drinks are great, and there are lots of dogs to pet! If the wait is too long, walk a little further down the Katy Trail to Tequila Social for a similar vibe - get the ground beef quesadilla!
The Henry offers lovely American food with great drinks and free validated parking in their garage! A fan favorite in Downtown Dallas.
We went here on Ryan's birthday, and we loved it! Their portions are very large, and the meat is so tender! This is a perfect place for true Texas barbecue in Fort Worth!
A famous mexican food staple for Fort Worth. This restaurant comes with high praise from everyone who attends. CASH ONLY
Trip Advisor labels this steakhouse with the travelers' choice award, so we feel confident in recommending it to you! They include free valet parking, and try out Booger Red's Saloon next door for a true western experience!
The pinnacle of what it means to live in West Plano. This will forever be the best place you can eat in all of north Dallas suburbia. You MUST get the quesadilla; if you don't, it's just a mid-tier Chipotle. Courtney's order: Chicken quesadilla with queso and cheese - dip it in the chipotle sauce or queso on the side. Ryan's not a huge fan, but he's in denial that he's wrong.
The song of our relationship is "Hideaway" by NeedToBreathe, so it's only fitting we include this Oklahoma-based pizzeria in the mix. Courtney's order: the Pollinator Ryan's order: Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza
Although the address reads Dallas, Casa Pollastro is much closer to Plano. We went here on our one year anniversary, and it was AMAZING! The menu is a fixed price, all-you-can-eat deal incorporating Brazilian steakhouse elements with unlimited pasta. Everything here was delicious, but Ryan may or may not have gagged on the Guava Ravioli when Courtney asked him to try it - she loved it though! Don't forget to take advantage of the desserts (we each had two chocolate mousses)! This is where Ryan learned how to ask for seconds... and even thirds!
A Witte family go-to! We LOVE the Blue Goose, and we will often go on Thursdays when they have $3 well drinks and queso! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in West Plano!
The Owens family's NUMBER ONE staple. Angelina's is a wonderful option for a Mexican meal, and they don't skimp on the margaritas! Courtney's order: the Brisket Quesadilla Ryan's order: Three Soft Tacos with Ground Beef and Cheese with Double Rice
Perry's is one of Dallas' most elite steakhouses. Located in Grapevine, Frisco, and Dallas, this steakhouse will wow you with a culinary experience you won't forget. They are known for their table-side carved pork chop which is offered for dinner all nights, a special 3 course meal included on Sundays, or for Friday lunch at a reduced price (not carved table-side for Friday lunches). Everything on the menu is hand-crafted excellence. Ryan and Courtney went here the night of their engagement and left flabbergasted at the quality of food and service. What we recommend: the truffle spinach artichoke dip, the cowboy bone-in ribeye, the three cheese mac and cheese, and the loaded mashed potatoes! We highly encourage you to not skip their flourless fudgy chocolate cake!
Another Owens family staple. Vaughn's serves all kinds of Italian food from pizza to pasta and calzones! Courtney's order: Garlic Knots and any kind of Pasta Ryan's order: Pepperoni and Sausage Stromboli with a side of Ranch
If you know Ryan, you know he loves a good bowling moment. So in his honor, go on down to Andy B's and bowl a 300 in his name!
You're trapped!! Ah!! Just kidding, go ahead and check out these creative escape rooms to exercise your problem solving skills.
For a fun outdoor stroll through the park right in the heart of Dallas, check out Klyde Warren Park! Various food trucks line the sides of the park, and the Dallas Museum of Art is right across the street! We enjoy parking at the end of the line for the Dallas Trolley, and taking the free trolley to the park! The trolley is an inexpensive way to see many parts of Dallas with friends!
The Perot is a very popular museum in Dallas that many enjoy. Ryan liked how interactive the exhibits are, and says there is plenty to do as it is a large museum.
If you're curious about the life and death of JFK, check out the Sixth Floor Museum where Lee Harvey Oswald famously assassinated the young President.
Ryan and Courtney loooooove to go fowling! We have taken multiple of our friends here to have a fun Saturday night hangout. Fowling is a combination of football and bowling where you throw the football at the other teams bowling pins! The food is decent, but Ryan's favorite part is the mystery beer vending machine where you pay $1, 2, or 3 depending on how high quality you want the beer to be! Courtney recommends wearing something you don't mind sweating in!
Legacy West has become one of the hottest places to visit in West Plano. Think of it as a mini Fifth Avenue from New York or a close comparison of Disney Springs. There are incredible restaurants and lots of shopping. The main attraction is Legacy Hall which includes numerous food booths through the multi-story building.
If you're looking for the most country/western activity in all of DFW, you must stop by for the Cattle Drive that happens at 11:30am and 4pm. The Stockyards also have great food and good Texan shopping.
What says Texas more than cowboys? Visit the place with the best of the best cowboys to see what all the country hype is about.
Haven't gotten enough of the Texas heat? Enjoy a nice stroll through the botanical gardens and soak in the picturesque greenery of summertime.
