Historically, September weather in Michigan is beautiful. We expect the temperature to be in the mid to low 70s during the day, reaching the 50s at night. It does rain sometimes in September, so please check the weather before packing to ensure you pack appropriately.

The bride and groom will stay at the Royal Park Hotel. We would love it if our guests booked rooms there as well so we can enjoy your company as much as possible. We have also listed other hotel options on the Travel page. All three hotel options are about a 10-15 min drive from the wedding venue. Guests are welcome to stay where ever they prefer.

Unfortunately, we are unable to reserve hotel room blocks. We recommend that our guests book their rooms at their hotel of choice as soon as possible to ensure you are able to stay where you desire.

To allow all guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we have chosen to make our special day adults only. We thank you for understanding.

We recommend flying into Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).

We recommend booking transportation, especially if you plan on exploring the city. We will be providing transportation between the hotels and Meadow Brook Hall on the day of the wedding.

Yes, we will be providing transport for our guests to travel between all three hotels and the wedding venue. That way everyone can enjoy the night with us! Transportation will pick up guests before the ceremony begins and drop them off towards the end of the party. Also - if you are not staying at the hotels, we have valet services scheduled for the day of the wedding for you.

Guests at the Hampton Inn will be picked up at 4 pm. Guests at the Hyatt will be picked up at 430 pm. And guests at the Royal Park Hotel will be picked up at 450 pm. Everyone on the shuttle will arrive at Meadow Brook Hall at 515 pm.

The shuttle will begin taking guests from Meadow Brook Hall back to their hotels at 10 pm and will end their services by midnight.

The ceremony will take place outside and ceremony seating will be in the grass. Therefore, we recommend you wear shoes that allow you to walk comfortably in the grass. If you plan to wear stilettos, we recommend wearing heel stoppers to protect your shoes and avoid having your heels sink into the grass.

The ceremony will be outdoors. The reception may be considered indoors in a sense since it will be inside the Garden Tent.

We will be providing valet service the day of the wedding at Meadow Brook Hall. If you want to self park, guests may park in Lot 61, located to the left of the estate’s entrance. Again, we will have valet services for our guests that are driving.

Upon walking from your vehicle, you will see the Courtyard Gate/Signature Garden which is where you will enter the grounds. Stay to your left and go through the courtyard and under the Visitors Entrance arch. Upon entering the front circle drive, stay to your left and enter the main front doors. There will be signs directing guests to the ceremony along the way.

We request that you please arrive at least 15 mins before the ceremony begins to give yourself enough time to walk from Parking Lot 61 to the Pegasus Garden.

Downtown Rochester is about 0.3 mi from the Royal Park Hotel. It is filled with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services (including salons and spas). If you like to golf, Katke-Cousins Golf Course neighbors Meadow Brook Hall's backyard. You may also hike or bike along Paint Creek River, which flows along the side of Royal Park Hotel. Meadow Brook Hall is a national historic landmark. It was built by one of the automotive aristocracy's most remarkable women, Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of automobile pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, lumber broker Alfred Wilson. Meadow Brook represents one of the finest examples of Tudor-revival architecture in America. The entire venue will be ours for the evening. Guests are welcome (and encouraged) to tour the estate and surrounding gardens. The upstairs portion of the manor will be open for touring during the cocktail hour, while the rest of the manor and entire property will be open for the duration of the evening. The architecture is stunning and we highly recommend you check it out!
