On November 3rd 2014, Saera and Cristian became engaged to be married! Here is how they met:
Cristian was born and raised in the United States by a Chilean family, graduated from medical school four years ago, who is working on his surgical specialty in New York City. He was assigned to work at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in April and May, 2014.
Saera is also a physician, recently graduated from medical school in Göttingen, Germany. She was born in Japan, she grew up in Japan and Germany. As part of her medical training, she had the opportunity to rotate through hospitals around the world, including in the United States. Luckily, she was selected for a rotation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from May to July.
On May 19th, Saera's first day in the hospital, they caught glimpse of each other in the hallway, and had their first conversation. Over the next few weeks, they began dating, and saw each other every day...and fell completely in love!
Last November, Cristian visited Japan and proposed to Saera. He presented the engagement ring to her at the Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto. And she said "yes!" They had to live apart for some time while Saera finished earning her medical degree in Germany, but then she moved to Boston in August to join Cristian!
They began their new lives together in the United States over the summer, and had a small private civil ceremony at Boston City Hall on September 8th. The wedding party will happen in April, and nothing would make them happier than sharing this new beginning with you!
