Our Wedding

We met in 2017 at the Shoreline for a music festival. Following this, we continued to see each other over the summer until we went on a white water rapids trip with friends where we learned we would be living approximately half a mile away from each other and the rest is history!

How we met

Our first date was Thai food. We carry on this tradition by trying a new Thai restaurant every Valentines day

First Date

Thomas proposed to Saige at the top of his favorite hike in SLO where he went to school. Saige may have been out of breath and bright red, but the proposal couldn't have had a better view! Funny story, Thomas accidentally proposed with the ring upside down

From stealing my clothes as kids (and still doing it as adults) to keeping me grounded in all my wild ideas, she’s seen it all—and somehow still agreed to be my Maid of Honor. I'm lucky to have a Type A sister who's able to balance out my Type B personality. I bet those who know her will be able to pick out Sierra's touches to the wedding day

Although she was scared of me for the first few years, after we bonded the summer going into Senior year we were unseperable! Through PhDs, medical school, residencies, and fellowship, we've somehow managed to keep each other semi-sane.

Jackson- better known as "Baby Daddy"-  has been a constant for over half of my life. We first bonded during our first high school class (Spanish) where we learned neither of us was ever made to speak anything aside from English. Please don't be alarmed by any dinosaur noises heard throughout the wedding day, Jurassic Park isn't happening, it'll just be Jackson expressing his excitement

Be prepared for some extra cuteness! Eloise and Poppy are ready to bring the party! Make sure to clap extra loud for the girls- Eloise has been perfecting her flower throwing for months!

When we asked Zach to be our officiant (fancy crocheted dragon and all), we thought he was about to say no. Zach took on the responsibility as if he was the one making a life long commitment, not us! After deliberating for a few days, we finally breathed a sigh of relief when Zach agreed to be our officiant! We can now officially say we have the whole Sousa family in the wedding!

Airports

Oakland is the closest to the area to fly in to! Often, you can find budget airlines as well as larger airlines flying in. Usually flights are more expensive than San Francisco

Oakland International Airport

SFO is usually the cheapest place to fly in to and has a lot of options. Depending on traffic, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to about 1.5 hours to get into Oakland. Taking BART from SFO to Oakland is quite easy and helps to avoid some of the traffic of driving over the Bay Bridge

San Francisco International Airport

SJC is the furthest airport from Oakland, although still relatively close. Depending on traffic, it can take about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to get up to Oakland

San Jose Mineta International Airport

This hotel is about 12 miles from the venues (15-20 minutes) and is in one of our favorite areas to visit! Located in Jack London Square, there's a lot of fun restaurants to visit and our favorite winery, Rosenblum Cellars (Saige recommends the Hooks Bay Sauvignon Blanc but their bubbles flight is nothing to say no to either!)

Waterfront Hotel - JDV by Hyatt

If you'd like a more upscale hotel, Claremont is the way to go! Located 7 miles (10-15 minutes from the venues), it is just a short drive to get to downtown Berkeley where there's endless things to keep you busy

Claremont Club & Spa - A Fairmont Hotel

The Graduate hotel gives you the feeling like you're attending UC Berkeley! Located right near the downtown, you are walking distance to a lot of fun activities! About 10 miles (25 minutes) from the venues

Graduate by Hilton Berkeley

This hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shopping! Approximately 11 miles/22 minutes from the venues depending on traffic. Shout out to Ian and Leah who found this hotel!

The best Italian restaurant in town! If you are wanting to eat here, make sure to make reservations as it fills up quickly! Our favorite dish is the gnocchi bolognese. There is also a bottega on Piedmont ave that has the same menu with a chiller vibe

Yummy chicken sandwiches that pack a punch! Be prepared to have your taste buds burn if you go medium spice or above

World Famous HOTBOYS Chicken

The best wings in town! The garlic noodles are also delicious!! Highly recommend

Catos is a fun taproom that we like to go on Wednesdays and Sundays for their live music! Ask any of the bartenders and they'll know Tofu

Cato's Ale House

One of the biggest perks Saige is looking forward to is becoming a member by proxy after marrying Thomas. For white wine lovers, we recommend the Hooks Bay. Make sure to come hungry and order one of their cheeses and warm baguette with olive oil

Fun Activities to do 

If you have a whole day, we recommend going from the ferry station in Jack London Square and taking the ferry to San Francisco where you can explore the city! You can rent electric bike, take the trolley, uber, or walk to a lot of fun places! If you're looking to be a tourist for the day, Pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square are where you want to go! You could also visit Alcatraz
