Steve and Sam first met through their longtime friends, Ashley and Austin. One night, Austin brought Steve over to the apartment Sam shared with Ashley—and from that moment on, he was a constant presence in Sam's life. At the time, Sam was just months away from moving to Omaha, but meeting Steve changed everything.

Remarkably, Sam's Grandpa Butler and Steve's Grandma Canon grew up just a few houses apart in the same small town. Their little family has also expanded, with their adorable puppy, Mac, completing the trio.
