San Francisco
Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Park, the list goes on!
Wine Country/Napa Valley
There is no shortage of amazing wineries, restaurants, and more in wine country! The Napa region is pretty vast, but is generally 1 to 2 hours from Berkeley depending on where you decide to go.
Muir Woods
Get a taste of Northern California nature at Muir Woods National Monument. Note: Parking reservations are required!
Point Reyes National Seashore
Point Reyes is another beautiful piece of Northern California worth visiting.
Senor Sisig: Locations in SF/Oakland
Filipino Fusion and one of our favorites. Ben likes the Tosilog Burrito and Sam likes the California Burrito because there's french fries in it.
Bageltopia: Berkeley
Yummy bagels with a variety of cream cheese and topping options. Ben likes the Supernova open-faced sandwich with house-smoked lox. Sam likes the Sunshine with Calabrian chili cream cheese.
Cheeseboard Collective: Berkeley
A Berkeley staple for decades. Cheeseboard is a worker-owned collective, where all employees have a hand in business decisions and take home a share of the profits. They serve one type of vegetarian pizza per day. Drown it in the green cilantro sauce. They also have a bakery and cheese shop next door. Btw, don't go to Sliver (Cheeseboard's non-collective rival)!!
Tacos Sinaloa: Locations in Berkeley/Oakland
One of our favorite taco spots. Their specialty is seafood, but they also make some of the best crispy carnitas.
Bongo Burger: Berkeley
This is our favorite burger place in Berkeley. While at Cal, Sam would insist on eating Bongo Burger after her last final every semester. Besides the classic burgers, we also recommend the Persian Burger (ground lamb), the Spicy Chicken Burger, or any of the Mediterranean plates.
Yonsei Handrolls: Oakland
Yonsei is relatively new and we love them. Large portions of high quality sushi at a great price point. And they also have soy sauce that comes in a little dropper and I think that's cute.
Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood Restaurant: Emeryville
Dim Sum! Frequently visited by Sam's family on Sundays after church or for someone's birthday. Make sure to get the "crispy golden rice noodle stuffed with shrimp."🤩
P.S. Sam and Ben like to eat and like to talk about eating, so just ask us for more food recommendations.
