Things to Do

Eat some good food

Morzine and Saint Jean have an amazing array of restaurants. If you are looking for something typical from the region (Savoyard) we recommend opting for a fondue or raclette (lots of cheese!!)

There are some great restaurants in Morzine:

- La Grange - Savoyard, Izzy & Sam's favourite restaurant

- La Chaudanne - Wine bar, Steak, Savoyard

- L'Etale - Savoyard, Pizza, Steak - good options for vegans and veggies!

- Ô Chalet - the best place in town for burgers!!

- Woodyard - Ibex taproom and great burgers!

- Hideout Hostel - Asian

If you are staying in Saint Jean then you must visit Alba. Stacey is in charge and will see you fed well!

Visit Lac de Montriond

Picture of Visit Lac de Montriond

Lac Montriond is a popular spot of Sam & Izzy's for walking Rufus. It's a 3km walk round the lake and there are a couple of restaurants at either end to stop at.

There's a link here to a walk Izzy did around the lake and up to the waterfall at the end if you wanted to give it a go!

Visit Les Gets

Les Gets is the next town along from Morzine. It's a 10 minute drive and the main high street has a selection of nice shops and restaurants.

Take a walk

Sam and Izzy love their walking. There are a few that are top of their list and not too long a jaunt for those not used to the Alpine inclines!

Here are some links below for some of their favourite routes around town:

Parc des Dérêches - The central river path in Morzine that goes down to Montriond, 5km loop from top to bottom. The Ibex brewery is at the far end.

Alternatively you can head up from Morzine towards Nyon, using the same river path and you'll come across the waterfall. There are yellow walking signs everywhere that will tell you where to go.

Cascade de Brochaux - Starting point is just past the village of Lindarets - known for the loose goats wandering around! It also has a lot of nice places for lunch. This short walk takes you alongside a river and up to the waterfall at the end.

Bourgeoise Viewpoint - This viewpoint is at the top of the Col de Joux Plan, a famous cycle route, ridden this year by the tour de France. It's an hour walk that gives you a great view over the surrounding valleys.

There are so many great walks about, just ask Sam and Izzy if you want any more info!

Places further afield

If you are staying a little while and fancy a trip to a mountain town then we recommend the following:

Annecy

1hr 15 drive from Morzine

Aix-Les-Bains

1hr 30 drive from Morzine

Both Annecy & Aix have a lovely lake and cute town.

Montreux (Switzerland)

1hr 40 drive from Morzine

Montreux is on lake Geneva (Lac Leman as it's referred to here)

If you think you'll head down, ask Sam and Izzy for some lunch/dinner recommendations!
