Our Wedding

One day Sam’s coworker approached her about a potential set up with her husband’s coworker, Phil. They were adamant that the two should meet due to common interests, similar senses of humor, and willingness to be open to a blind date. Eventually, they coordinated a dinner for everyone to meet to see if Sam and Phil connected. Although Phil sported an outgrown beard that made Sam a bit wary, he made her laugh throughout the evening and asked afterwards to see her again, which she accepted. Today, the beard is (mostly) gone, but the laughter and fun between the two has only grown. The rest, they say, is history.&nbsp;&nbsp;

How we met - August 2017

Sam always wanted to go to the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington. She organized a trip for her and Phil full of Orca watching, sunsets, and hiking. There was also an unexpected surprise! After a long day of hiking, Phil took Sam to an amazing viewpoint with a panoramic view of the San Juan Islands. There, Phil got down on one knee and asked Sam to join him for a lifetime of adventures together!&nbsp;

Our Story

The nearest airport is Portland International Airport (PDX), a 45 minute drive from Stevenson, Washington. Transportation to and from Skamania Lodge can be limited, so we suggest you rent a vehicle or arrange prior transportation in both directions if traveling through PDX.

Marriage Celebration at Skamania Lodge: Cocktail AttireWe recommend a cocktail dress for the ladies and a suit or sport coat with optional tie for the gents. The ceremony and cocktail hour are located outside on grass, so please be mindful of your footwear.&nbsp; NotesPlease keep an eye on the weather in Stevenson, Washington as you prepare for your trip. Although we hope for clear skies and warm weather, you can still expect some wind along the Columbia River Gorge where the celebration weekend is located. Jackets are recommended for the evenings.&nbsp;

Schedule of Events

Our highest priority for this event is to ensure the safety of our guests. In order to protect all in attendance we kindly request that all guests be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If for any reason you have not been vaccinated we appreciate your cooperation in staying home. In addition to the vaccine requirement, we’ve decided to ask all guests to take a COVID test prior to attending any of the weekend events. COVID Testing:&nbsp;To make this as&nbsp;easy as possible, we purchased enough rapid self-tests (BinaxNow Antigen Self Test) for every guest. This is a simple, non-invasive nasal swab test that can be done in just 15 minutes. Please get tested within 48 hours of coming to any weekend event. Kits will be available at the Skamania front desk (or delivered directly to you if you are local). Each kit contains 2 tests, so please request whatever quantity you need when you check in. For those that are not staying at Skamania, reach out to us and we'll coordinate how to get the tests to you. In addition, we also will have extra tests at the Welcome Dinner and the Ceremony in the event you need one. For those traveling from far away or that will be heading straight to a wedding event upon arrival, feel free to get tested prior to departure.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mask requirements:&nbsp;All wedding events will be held outside and will not require masks. We look forward to seeing everyone’s smiles!&nbsp; If you plan on taking the shuttle between Skamania Lodge and Stonehedge Gardens for the Welcome Dinner you may be asked to wear a mask during the ride. Washington and Oregon still have indoor mask mandates, so also plan on having a mask indoors at Skamania. In addition, we recommend you take a photo of your vaccine card, as it may be required at other venues that you visit on your own.&nbsp;

There is ample to do in the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood areas. Hood River is a world famous windsurfing destination with dining, shopping, breweries, and wine tasting. The gorge offers ample opportunities for scenic drives, waterfalls, and hiking. If the mountain is calling, head over to Mt. Hood for outdoor activities or to visit Timberline Lodge. There are various turnarounds depending on your level of ambition.- 2.8 miles out and back to Pioneer Point Lookout (Moderate)- 5.2 miles out and back to Nancy Russell Overlook (Moderate)- 7.4 mile loop for the whole thing (Hard) <a href="https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Fairy_Falls_Loop_Hike" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Wahkeena Falls to Fairy Falls</a>Hike to Wahkeena Falls, stop for a panoramic gorge view at Lemmons Viewpoint, then hike along a picturesque canyon stream to Fairy Falls. You can turn around at any time, or keep it short and just hike to the falls. There is a short walk way to the iconic Benson Bridge. There is a paved trail that continues towards the top of the falls.
