Which airport should I fly into?
Check out the travel page for the two airports I'd recommend! In short, choose Dulles if you're looking for direct and/or cheaper flights but a long drive time. Choose Charlottesville if you're looking for the closest option.
Is there any sort of group transit option?
If you're interested in getting together with other wedding guests to share a rental car, carpool from NOVA, or any other transit logistics, we created a group me for everyone to coordinate. Please note that we will not be helping coordinate because I am very small and I have no money, so you can imagine the kind of stress that I am under. You can find the link to join here: https://groupme.com/join_group/102038931/0vZ12Bkf
Do I have a plus one?
Unfortunately due to space constraints, we're unable to extend plus ones to our party guests. Therefore, we ask that you please check the names listed on your invitation and avoid bringing any unnamed guests.
Can I bring my kids to the wedding?
To allow all our guests the opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy themselves, we’ve elected to make our wedding reception a child-free event. Thank you for your understanding.
Will your wedding be indoors or outside?
Our wedding is an entirely outdoors event, so please dress accordingly. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be uncovered with grass and loose gravel, so please make sure to break out your tallest spiky heels. The reception will be under a covered, concrete pavilion.
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes! James Monroe Highland has ample parking for vehicles of all sizes. You're also welcome to leave your car overnight, but it must be picked up by 10am on Sunday.
What's the dress code for your wedding?
Our event will be semiformal. Think floor or ankle length gowns, suits and ties, and dressy pantsuits. Please avoid wearing white (or someone will spill red wine on you).
What kind of food will be served?
We'll have passed hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour followed by a plated meal at the reception. For dinner, you'll have a choice between pan roasted cod with garlic, lemon + herb sauce or whole roasted New York strip loin of beef with roasted shallot compound butter. If you have any dietary restrictions, please include them on your RSVP card and we're happy to accommodate wherever possible.
What's the best way to get from the ceremony to the reception?
A short walk! The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are all at the same venue.
Are there any other wedding events I should plan for?
Unless you've been specifically contacted about the rehearsal dinner, there's no other wedding events you should plan for. Please check out the "Things to Do" page for tons of fun Charlottesville activities.
Is there an open bar?
Hell yea! We'll also have a coffee bar with the best local beans around.
What time should I arrive?
Due to limitations at the venue, please arrive no sooner than 3:30pm. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30, so please plan to arrive no later than 4:20.
Will transportation be provided?
We have a renovated school bus that will do pickup/drop off at the Residence Inn Downtown, the Holiday Inn Monticello, and the Sleep Inn and Suites Monticello. The seats are first come, first serve. See the travel tab for schedule and more information!
Is there a particular hotel I should stay at?
We've reserved four hotel blocks in Charlottesville for Friday and Saturday night. Please check out the travel tab to learn more!
When should I book my hotel?
Rumor has it that hotels —particularly our blocks — are booking up fast! I’d recommend booking your hotel room ASAP.
How should I plan to get to the venue?
If you're not staying in one of our hotel blocks, you'll be able to call and Uber or Lyft to the venue from Charlottesville. Please allot plenty of time, as there can sometimes be a wait in the Charlottesville area. There's also ample parking on site.
