Our Wedding

It all started at a coffee shop getting bagels... or was it a bagel shop getting coffee? I think its okay to unveil the truth now... We actually met in the most Asian way possible - on a dating app created by Asians for Asians, Coffee Meets Bagel, in April 2022. Two people who didnt know how to date in the 21st century. Two people who very much were tired of the pointless texting rules, yet fearful of the crazies that proliferate online dating. Sam had just been absorbed in watching K-dramas, and Josh’s profile seemed almost too good to be true, but she was in for a real treat. As for Josh, Sam’s profile had pictures of her with different and unique backdrops, showing what an adventurous spirit she was. Given that these were not selfies, she clearly had a personality that was good enough to have friends who were willing to travel with her. And of course, she was beautiful. Despite a slight delay to their first date (20... or 40 minutes), Sams first experience of Josh was of him, descending the stairs of the Ragtrader to greet her, with his long hair, swaying side to side, walking towards her in slow motion, with a holy-like glow that surrounded his whole body. What Sam didnt know was that she was just Joshs type. Her walk was no less confident than her smile from her pictures. Her style showed she had impeccable, yet subtle taste. Her eyes wide and honest, yet intelligent and careful. The date had started. Next thing you know, 3 hours flew by and Josh found his curiosity, his interest, and maybe even his heart, tickled by someone truly special. Maybe it was how her eyes felt like a warm ocean wave, soothing and calming. Or maybe how her voice was refreshing like a cool breeze on your skin on a hot and humid summer day. Naturally, Josh had to ask Sam... want to go to Den Social? She laughed in his face. And that was date #1. Several dates later, and 6 months in, on December 11th, 2022, they decided to make it official. It pretty much snowballed from there because in a little less than a year, on November 24th, 2023, Josh proposed to Sam. Fun fact: Josh drank an entire bottle of tequila to himself the night before. Now, we’re anxiously counting the days down and are more than excited, and thankful, to have you join us in starting our marriage with dancing, drinking, laughter, and love.

Our Story

Black Tie Attire

Understanding how black tie has changed in definition over the years, our definition is as follows. Women: we ask you to dress in full-length gowns of any non-white color. Men: we ask you to dress in a black suit or a black tuxedo with a white dress shirt and dress shoes. Bowties or ties of non-white colors are required. Any other accessories are optional and can be a color of your choice.

If you need to rent or buy a black tuxedo or suit, the BlackTux.com offers a few options (links and images provided below). You are more than welcome to go with any other company of your choice so long as the tuxedo or suit is black in color.

I met Nancy on the first day of high school in Biology class, mostly due to her studious demeanor—aka someone I could potentially copy from. :)

Over the years, I still turn to Nancy for answers, but now in a less detention-worthy way. She has guided me through all of life’s obstacles and shown me her unwavering support.

Her kindness, intelligence, and humor are qualities I cherish deeply. I can’t wait to start the next chapter of my life with her by my side.

Fun fact: Nancy and I were identical as babies, to the extent that her mom couldn't even tell us apart. :)



Nancy Chow

Meet Kelly, my partner in crime for the past decade! Whether indulging in delicious Pad Thai on the streets of Phuket, sharing serene moments by the quiet lakes of Tennessee, or surviving the chaos of Cuba to say the least, I can always count on her to have my back. 

Fun fact: Kelly and I share a telepathic bond, often receiving a text just as we're about to share the exact same thought! 

Kelly Coffindaffer

Introducing my little sister Diana, small in stature but with a heart of gold and always had a talent for leaving a big impression. I'll never forget the struggles of teaching her math growing up – who knew that one day she'd become an educator herself? While I can't take any credit for her success, I'm incredibly proud to have witnessed her journey and achievements. 

Fun fact: Diana is a dog mom to Flynn, her adorable two year old Golden Doodle! 

Diana Fernandez 

Kyu has been my best friend and the older brother I never had since the sixth grade. I wasn't always so reliable, but he certainly was. We share a lot, from painful heartbreaks, dancing our hearts out to Alone at SOAK (RIP), and major milestones like his own wedding, and now mine. He has been a true integral part of my life and I can't imagine where I'd be if he hadn't been a constant role model. Fun fact: Kyu and I first met at the coolest club ever... Lego Robotics.

Kyu Jung

Kohei and I first met as incoming freshman at Northeastern University. From singing Bruno Mars' "Billionaire" in the common bathroom and getting all the guys in the shower to join in, to cracking sea urchins in your tiny apartment in San Francisco, Kohei always finds a way to live in even the tiniest moments. Fun fact: Kohei had me hang out with his now-wife, without ever having met her before and without him there.

Dan is the little brother I never had. Though we dealt with the daily "fly a kite" or "kick rocks", we started our mornings with coffee and breakfast burritos on our balcony, overlooking South Beach, play COD at lunch, and once Friday hit, throw some of the best house parties ever. Dan is one of the most loyal, passionate, and genuine guys you'll ever meet. Fun fact: though he doesn't share it with many, Dan is actually a really good rapper and freestyler.

We want to start with acknowledging your presence at our wedding. We know many of you are traveling or having to make arrangements just to join us. Your presence truly is the greatest gift we could ask for and we are ecstatic to see you, drink with you, and dance with you! As some of you know, we currently live in an apartment in Hell's Kitchen. Though it feels just right for us now, we know it won't feel that way once our new family of 2 turns to 3, or more. DISCLAIMER: Sam is NOT pregnant! Yet :) Before expanding our family, we are saving up to buy a future family home and we humbly ask for your support. We're already thankful from the bottom of our hearts for your fellowship, your friendship, and most importantly, your love.
