In lieu of traditional gifts, Wes and Samantha have opted to ask for monetary wedding gifts only. Wes is in the process of completing an Accelerated Nursing Program at Bellarmine University here in Louisville and because the program condenses a 4-year-degree into 1 year, it is Wes's full time job leaving Samantha's non-profit salary as their only source of income during this time. The couple has been together for 7 years and created a home together for the last 5, therefore the traditional gifts received by newlyweds are not as beneficial to their current needs. Sam and Wes hope part of these funds will also contribute to a much needed honeymoon after Wes graduates.
