Our Wedding

Our Story

We were meant to Brie...Sami + Mitch's story began as coworkers working in the Specialty department at Whole Foods Market. In 2017, Sami transferred into the department where she met Mitch, the "quiet, grumpy, coffee guy" on the team. They amicably worked alongside one another for a little over a year before they started seeing each other outside of work through events hosted by co-workers. After discovering their mutual love for thrifting, antiques, and mid-century modern decor, they spontaneously decided to visit Mitch's favorite antique shops in Point Pleasant, NJ followed by his favorite brewery in Ardmore, PA. By the end of this whirlwind adventure, both Sami and Mitch saw something more in each other. They shared the same sense of humor, appreciated artisanal food stuffs, loved all animals, and knew how to roast each other; a recipe for true love. Sami jokingly calls this their "first-not-date". The two quietly became a couple on their actual "first" date that followed 48 hours later when they grabbed dinner at the Hulmeville Inn and saw the blockbuster hit "The Meg" in theatres. A year later, Sami and Mitch moved in just down the street from their first date on Bellevue Avenue, where they soon after hunkered down for the 2020 pandemic. They soon started their little family by adopting their beloved cat, Gary in 2020 followed by their second cat, Ricotta in 2021.

The Proposal

In April of 2023, the couple and their dear friends Christian and Jeff went on vacation together to Vermont; a beloved vacation destination. The main to-do items were exploring the trails of the green mountain state, however, mud season was in full swing in April; many trails were closed. That did not stop the troupe from taking any opportunity to search for trails that remained open. On one of their trail searches, Sami discovered Little River State Park, just on the outskirts of the Waterbury Dam in Waterbury, VT. Although the initial trail they found was suddenly closed due to ground conditions, the troupe explored the dam and braced against the sudden weather changes; the weather cycled through rain, hail, cloudy, and sunny in just an hour. Undeterred by the weather, they happened upon the Dalley Loop trail that was still open and found themselves leaving the neatly carved paths to adventure deeper into the backside of the mountain. After crossing many rivers and streams, they happened upon a waterfall just in time for the sun to come out from behind the clouds. Unknown to Sami, Mitch enlisted the help of Christian and Jeff to help him propose during their vacation. The only problem? The trail Mitch originally planned to propose on was closed for mud season; so now the trio were waiting for the perfect moment for Mitch to pop the question. As the sun came from behind the clouds at the waterfall, Christian and Jeff distracted Sami as Mitch prepared for his proposal. They decided to take a picture of the happy couple at the base of the waterfall, and when Sami turned around to pose for the photo, she found Mitch on one knee to ask the most important question of their lives.
