Getting to Falkenberg

Our Wedding

The Day Before

If you are in Falkenberg the day before the wedding, please join us at a get-together at Sandra's parent's house (Address: Ryssgärde Bergsgården 201, 311 65 Vessigebro). More information to follow as the date approaches.

The Ceremony

The ceremony starts at 1pm at Askome Church, approximately a 20-minute drive to the reception venue. We will arrange transportation (via chartered bus) to and from the church for those requiring assistance (please indicate when you RSVP and we'll be in touch with further details).

More information will be available as the wedding date approaches.

The Reception

Reception will follow at Hertigen manor house in Falkenberg central. Prepare yourself for an afternoon/evening of traditional Swedish fika, outdoor (hopefully) games (wedding attire appropriate), followed by dinner, drinks and dancing.Swedish weddings traditionally include "toastmasters" who act like an emcee for the evening. It is encouraged for guests to give short speeches during the dinner (these could also include songs, poems, videos, etc). If you would like to make a speech during the dinner, please reach out to the toastmasters (to be updated).

Gifts and Registry

The greatest gift we could ask for is your attendance. We know many of you are making a very long trip to celebrate with us, and we don't want anyone to feel obligated to give a gift.

If you do decide to give a gift, we (will be) registered at John Lewis. As our tiny London flat has limited room for gifts, we would also greatly appreciate cash gift towards the next stage in our life.

Good to Know

What should I wear?

We encourage "cocktail attire" - a little dressed up but not too formal.

I'm Insta-famous. What's your hashtag?

The official hashtag is #YouHadMeAtHeller

Collin's unofficial broken-Swedish hashtag is #InteBaraJagHeller

Please tag your photos so that we can all enjoy them later!

Help! I have kids!

No worries, we understand that some of you would like to bring children and they are welcome to join. Please reach out to us if you are planning on bringing your children and we can discuss how best to accommodate them - we will do our best to make sure both parents and children can have a great time.

If you're flying to the wedding, the two closest airports are Gothenburg, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark. (Stockholm is discouraged as it is a very long journey to Falkenberg).

Gothenburg is marginally closer to Falkenberg, but is not as well connected as Copenhagen. The drive to Falkenberg takes a little less than an hour and a half. It is possible to get to Falkenberg by train, but you will need to take the bus to Gothenburg Central Station and then take a train to Falkenberg. The bus ride is about 30 minutes (for 119 SEK / $14) and the train takes about an hour (for 165 SEK / $19). Please check the train schedule before booking flights, as the last train runs at 11:55pm (and you also need to factor in immigration + baggage claim + bus to the train station).

Copenhagen has a broader choice of flights and is easily accessible by train. A drive from Copenhagen to Falkenberg takes a little over two hours while a train ride takes about two and a half hours. If you decide to take the train, you can buy tickets from a kiosk at the airport. Just select "Falkenberg station" as your destination, and, if asked, you want to select the bridge option and not the ferry option. Tickets cost about 367 SEK ($41) per adult. Please check the train schedule before booking flights, as the last train runs at 8:42pm.

When you arrive at the Falkenberg, there are buses that can take you to the city centre and the hotel. Your train ticket will also include a bus ride. You can look up directions on Google maps (you're heading from Falkenberg Station) but we recommend you also contact us for more detailed directions. You can also call a taxi (+46 346 144 00) - the operator should be able to speak English.

If you prefer not to take a train, it is also possible to rent a car from both airports, just make sure to book in advance.

venue name

Falkenberg has a range of hotel options to accommodate a variety of needs and budgets. We have selected three below that we would recommend. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need any assistance. All the hotels below have free parking, free breakfast, and free WiFi.

Cheap, basic and conveniently located right next to the reception venue. Think "Motel 6", but less sketchy.

Hotel Vesterhavet

Great value for the money. It's a half-hour walk to the venue (you can take a taxi if you'd like). Very nice rooms overlooking the river Ätran. We have reserved a block of five king-sized double rooms for the wedding that are being held until March 31 - if you are interested in one of these, please contact us.

Hamngatan 27

A beachfront hotel with a full-service spa attached. This option is pricier, but potentially a great option for a relaxing stay in Falkenberg. It's a 33-minute walk to the reception venue.

Travel

Falkenberg, Sweden

You'll already be here, so why not check out some sites in the area? It's a cute but small city, and we have a link below for some things to explore in Falkenberg and the region.

Visit Halland

Copenhagen, Denmark There's plenty to keep you entertained in Copenhagen, and you can easily spend 2-3 days there. Here are some guides for inspiration:

Visit Copenhagen

We especially recommend taking a stroll around the city and eating at Madklubben.

Gothenburg, Sweden

Check out Sweden's second largest city and Sandra's former haunt. There's an amusement park in the city, several museums (including one with a massive stuffed blue whale), nice places to stroll, and good places to eat.More Info

Kingdom of Crystal in Orrefors, Sweden

If you have a car, take a day trip to a historic glass-making part of Sweden where you can see (and participate) in glass-blowing.

More info

Malmö and Helsingborg, Sweden

Both cities are on the way between Copenhagen and Falkenberg. Collin especially likes the castle in Helsingborg.
