We have had family stay here before it’s a nice hotel located two blocks north of the downtown area. This is a 35 minute train ride and a 20 minute car ride from our neighborhood/wedding location.

SpringHill Suites Chicago Downtown/River North

This is closer to our neighborhood, about 10-15 minutes on the train. It’s close to the lake as well. There’s a lot to do in the surrounding area.

City Suites Hotel

This is on the higher-end but it’s right across from the lake and the impressive Lincoln Park.

Hotel Lincoln - JDV by Hyatt

This is right off the expressway and next to a pretty cool neighborhood.

Hyatt Place Chicago / Wicker Park

Here are our Chicago recomendations. This includes our favorite neighborhoods, restaurants, things to do and places to see.

The architecture boat tour is amazing! Ignacio and I do the tour at least once a year. It’s about $40 for a ticket—drinks and light bites are served on the boat. It’s approx 90 minutes.

Wendella Tours & Cruises

Great place for live blues. One of Obama’s favorites in Collegue. Excelente lugar para escuchar blues y tomar cocktails. Uno de las picadas favoritas de Obama cuando estaba en la universidad.

Rosa's Lounge

Great Ethiopian food! There’s also a location in the Time Out Market in West Loop

Demera Restaurant

Nice view pier to gab a beer during the summer with fireworks going every Wednesday and Saturday and a gigantic ferris wheel. Please bear in mind that it is very turístic place so weekdays are highly recommended to avoid crowds. Muelle con hermosa vista a la ciudad, fuegos artificiales todos los miércoles y domingos durante el verano, y una rueda gigante. Por favor, ten encuenta que es un lugar bastante turístico así que es recomendable visitarlo durante los días de semana si quieres evitar masas.

Chicago has a tough winter so it might be hard to believe how awesome it is during the summer. However, it does. So, for those folks that need to wait a couple of months for summer days, going to the beach in Chicago is strongly recommended. El invierno en Chicago es largo y extremo así que puede ser difícil de imaginar lo increíble que es el verano en la ciudad. Sin embargo, no podemos expresar lo genial que es en esta época de año. Así que, para aquellos que aún tienen que esperar unos meses para el verano, ir a la playa en Chicago es extremadamente recomendable.

Foster Beach Dunes

Here is where we had our first ever date and since then, it has become one our favorite spots in the City. With an amazing view of downtown Chicago and a couple of other bars in the building, Cindy’s it is a must. Also, we will likely force you to go anyway. Aquí fue donde tuvimos nuestra primera cita, y desde entonces, se ha convertido en uno de nuestros lugares favoritos en la ciudad.
