Where are you getting married?
Our ceremony will be a small affair with immediate family in Chicago to be followed by a reception at Koval Distillery in the Ravenswood neighborhood on the North West side of Chicago, close to where we live.
Koval is where Saoirse hosts her weekly craft group and Ignacio has also made quick friends with the staff as well. It's a beatiful space that's personal to us both.
What time is the reception?
Our reception will be from 6 - 10 pm at Koval with an afterparty at Platform 47 from 10:30-close.
We're from out of town, where should we stay?
Our reception is 25 minutes by car from downtown in a quieter neighborhood. There aren't a lot of options hotel-wise in the Ravenswood/Lincoln Square area but there are options to do Airbnb or VRBO. We strongly recommend against any of the hotel/motel options north of our neighborhood on Lincoln Ave.
But if you'd like to do a hotel you can look at Downtown (the Loop), West Loop, River North, Lincoln Park, and Lakeview which should all have some options.
We put some recommendations for hotels under the Hotel section of the website, but please feel free to reach out with questions or if you want us to take a look at a place you might want to book.
Due to the nature of our wedding, we won't have hotel blocks.
How do we get around?
Chicago has decent public transit but it won't get you everywhere quickly.
The CTA (Chicago train/bus system--the train system is also called "the El" and lines are divided by color. We live off the Brown Line) does, however, get you to a lot of places and you can buy a Ventra card at the airport (recommended). The Blue Line will get you from O'Hare Airport to downtown (the Loop) in under an hour.
Uber and Lyft are the most common rideshare apps. Taxis/cabs are incredibly difficult to find outside of downtown.
The day of the wedding, our after party is walking distance from our reception venue so unless you need special accomodation, prepare to walk ~10 minutes :) If you do need special accomodation, let us know so we can arrange things!
