The story begins in December of 2020 with a text conversation between Sara’s maid of honor, Chelsea, and herself:


Chelsea: I think my coworker Doug is your soulmate. Drinks two cans of Mt. Dew a day, but could you date Doug when your last name is Douglas?


Sara: Its not like his name would become Doug Douglas if we ever got married


(Sara and Doug both drink Mt. Dew like they are about to discontinue it and are the only people she knew that drank it so early in the morning lol)


Then let’s fast forward to November of 2021.. nothing had really transpired since that text message, but Chelsea still had it in the back of her mind. She invited Sara to the Mizzou vs. Florida football game. Sara and Chelsea went to Mizzou and Chelsea’s boyfriend at the time —now husband, was a Florida fan. They were making a day of it! Since Doug and his roommate Kyle were also Florida fans, Chelsea didnt want to be the only Mizzou fan in a group of Florida crazies — and that’s when Doug met Sara!


Mizzou won that night (in over time with a two point conversion), but that wasn’t the only win that night. Doug and Sara hit it off and the rest is history!


Sara and Doug commuted long distance for the first 9 months of their relationship between Washington, MO and Kansas City. Alternating weekends of who would drive where. Showing each other the fun things to do around their areas.


In Sept. of 2022, Doug got a new position in the company, which brought him to St. Louis. Sara and Doug were now on the same side of the state and happy what that meant for their relationship — especially happy about the less than hour commute to see each other.


Then in February of 2023, Sara and Doug decided to start the process to get approved to buy a house! In March, they were approved and found the perfect house (three days after they were approved)!


If you were wondering, they are still a house divided —
When it comes to college football:Doug is a FL fan & Sara is a Mizzou Fan.


Soccer: Doug is a Sporting KC fan & Sara is a STL City fan.


Baseball: Doug (technically) is a Royals fan and Sara is a Cards Fan.


The only two teams they fully agree on are the STL Blues and the Chiefs! — which is enough to keep the peace!


Together, they both love their two sweet pups! Sara had Millie for about 3-1/2 years before Doug came into the picture, but Millie instantly fell in love with him and he quickly became one of her favorite people (even loves him more than her own mom sometimes)! Hazel came into their lives in July of 2023 and has made the perfect addition! (So far she loves us both equally….)!


In August of 2023 Doug popped the question! Of course Sara said yes! (or you wouldnt be here looking/reading this from their wedding website LOL). He had planned a sweet surprise by asking Saras friend Kendall to take their photos where he would ask Sara to marry him!


Now here we are! They are planning their wedding and cant wait to celebrate with everyone!
