It seemed improbable that Sara and Dylan would ever cross paths. Sara, who grew up in a tiny town in northeastern Pennsylvania, was worlds apart from Dylan, a Midwestern kid raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. But in 2018, Sara took a leap and moved to Hillsboro, Oregon, to start pharmacy school. During her cross-country journey, she camped at several KOA campgrounds, including the Mount Rushmore KOA at Palmer Gulch Resort. Little did she know, Dylan was on a similar trajectory. In 2020, he relocated from Fredericksburg, Virginia, to Hammond, Oregon, to manage the Astoria/Warrenton/Seaside KOA.
By June 2021, Sara had just graduated from Pacific University School of Pharmacy with her PharmD and was putting off studying for her board exams. Meanwhile, Dylan spent his days working, fishing, and indulging in video games. Somehow, amidst these separate lives, fate intervened, and they matched on Hinge, despite one of Dylan’s profile photos featuring him proudly holding a fish.
Dylan picked Sara up for their first date in his enormous, rumbling Ford F-250, drawing curious glances from her entire neighborhood. Sara’s initial reaction was one of apprehension, but she climbed into the truck, and they set off for Copper River Restaurant. While Dylan might humorously claim that Sara “dumped him” after that first outing, their story didn’t end there. About a month later, they reconnected, and from that moment on, the rest truly became history. Sara soon found herself eagerly making the 2+ hour drive to the Oregon coast every weekend to be with Dylan and his dog, Stella.
The endless driving back and forth for as many weekends as possible continued until the summer of 2022. Sara was just finishing her residency year and intended to begin employment as a clinical pharmacist at the Oregon State Hospital when Dylan received news that he needed to move once again. At that pivotal moment, Sara and Dylan realized that they couldn’t imagine their lives without one another. Determined to stay by his side, Sara decided to join Dylan on his new adventure. It felt like fate when she discovered that their next destination was the very campground she had once stayed at years earlier during her move to Oregon.
Since moving to South Dakota, Sara and Dylan have made their home a haven with their beloved dog, Stella, and their two cats, Poppy and Ivy. They’ve immersed themselves in the natural beauty of the Black Hills, often spending their free time exploring the area or relaxing by their cozy fireplace. On December 29, 2023, Dylan made their relationship even more special by proposing in Rocky Mountain National Park—a place that has grown dear to them both.
Together, they have discovered that the best adventures are the ones they create with one another, and they truly feel so grateful for their relationship. They hope you will join them as they say, "I do" and embark on the next chapter of their lives together. They are excited to share this day with those who have been a part of their journey!
