Grand Teton National Park encompasses the Teton mountain range and the valley known as Jackson Hole. There is lots to do and many beautiful sights to see, but we highly recommend checking out Colter Bay, Schwabacher Landing, and Taggart Lake! Vehicle entrance reservation is not necessary, however an entrance pass is required.
Yellowstone National Park spans greater than 2 million acres across 3 states, making it nearly impossible to see all in one trip. Some of the most popular stops include Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Spring, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and Mammoth Springs. Vehicle entrance reservation is not necessary, however an entrance pass is required.
Jackson, Wyoming is the West's famous gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We had a lot of fun walking around downtown and checking out all of the shops and restaurants. If you're looking for somewhere new to eat lunch and like Thai food, we loved the chicken pad Thai at Thai Plate!
Explore the high alpine terrain of the Tetons atop the aerial tram. The 12-minute ride whisks you more than 4,000 vertical feet above the valley floor. There are many hiking and running trails at the top as well as famous waffles at Corbet's Cabin.
From the town square of Jackson, drive east on Broadway Avenue until you reach a sign that reads "National Elk Refuge." From there, you are on Refuge Road. Refuge Road is the official entrance onto the National Elk Refuge. The road travels along open meadows, rolling hills, and rocky cliffs. Wildlife watching and photography are popular activities along the road. From autumn through spring, look for Bighorn Sheep on Miller Butte. There is no fee to visit the Refuge.
Jackson National Fish Hatchery produces native cutthroat trout for federal and Tribal waters in Wyoming and Idaho. The hatchery is open daily for a close-up view of the fish production process. Depending on the season you may see elk, bison, coyotes, moose, bald eagles, trumpeter swans, osprey or sandhill cranes because the hatchery is uniquely located on the National Elk Refuge. There is no fee to visit the Hatchery.
