Where do I fly into?
The Toronto Pearson International Airport is about a 2.5 hour drive away from Sauble Beach. Toronto is a really fun city to explore so make a trip out of it if you're coming through!
The Detroit Metro Airport is about a 4 hour drive from Sauble Beach. The drive along Lake Huron is beautiful and very nostalgic for Sara.
Do I need a passport?
Yes, make sure it's not set to expire within 6 months of September 2025 or you might have trouble crossing over. Also be sure to apply as soon as possible, sometimes it can take a while. Kids under 16 only need proof of US citizenship. If you're bringing your dog make sure you have an up to date rabies certification!
What can't I bring across the border?
No weapons, weed, fruits/veggies and raw meat.
Do I need to exchange money?
Most everywhere takes card with the exception of American Express, which is not as commonly accepted at smaller shops in Canada. Make sure to let your bank know you're traveling out of the country so they don't flag any charges! The good news is the American dollar is worth more than the Canadian dollar, so usually everything is around 20% less for us than it's marked.

This motel has a pool and delicious restaurant, it's also been recently renovated! You can preview it on the Netflix show "Motel Makeover". It's about a 10 minute drive from this motel to the Martyn Cottage.
Kit Wat Motel & Marina

This is a great walkable option to the Martyn Cottage as well as the quieter north end of the beach. It's located on the river and has also been recently renovated. It's about a 7 minute walk from the motel to the Martyn Cottage.
Sauble River Marina & Lodge Resort

This is the closest option to the Martyn Cottage, only about a 5 minute walk! They also have a ton of different water toys to rent and take down the river or out to the lake.
The Sands Hotel | Sauble Beach

This is the newest addition to Sauble Beach, opening summer 2024. They have a restaurant and are located right on the beach close to downtown. It's about a 10 minute drive from this hotel to the Martyn Cottage.

This is more secluded option located near the falls in a quiet area of Sauble. It's about a 5 minute drive from the falls to the Martyn Cottage.

This is a great option if you want to camp for the weekend! It has bathrooms, a playground, basketball hoops and is right on the river. It's about a 5 minute drive to the Martyn Cottage.
