TL;DR: Together in High School, Apart in College, Brought back together in 2020, Proposal in the Scottish Highlands in 2023.
Sara and Ross met in High School Marching Band. Her Senior year she was Captain of the Color Guard and he was a Junior and Captain of the Drumline. Although there wasnt a ton of mingling in their earlier years, being on the Leadership team would often put them together. Confidence, Leadership, Patience, Compassion and Passion, Discipline. These are the things that brought them closer.
They started dating around Homecoming, spent Friday nights and Saturday competitions with friends who have enriched their lives and continued to be in their friend circles 10 years later. The summer of 2013, they parted ways. She went to Florida State University, he went to Middle Tennessee State University.
They learned from mistakes, from loss and joy, other relationships and friendships. The feelings never fully went away for Sara or Ross, and each summer when they returned home to see friends and family, they made it a point to get together for dinner, drinks, or small gatherings. Beginning of 2020, after moving back to Atlanta, he threw a house-warming party/game night that she attended. Week after week, they would spend time together until Covid-19 hit. They would quarantine together, cook meals, play games, and the two of them - plus his roommate and Best Man - would have long chats about career goals and life struggles, game nights that brought out the best and worst of all of us, puzzles on the cozier nights where even being quiet in the same space together was what they looked forward to.
In September of 2020 at their favorite Vineyard, Three Sisters, he asked her to move in together. January 2021, the three of them moved to their home town, knew that a change was needed and moved again in 2022 to Norcross, GA. When the Best Man moved out in October 2022, it was a bitter-sweet goodbye. Sara and Ross never really spent weeks on end alone together. It made them evaluate what they wanted from life, the things they strived for, the future they wanted together.
In May of 2023, they took a trip with the Matron of Honor and her husband to the UK. At the most beautiful mountain range in the Scottish Highlands, with a picturesque skyline, quaint home and gentle stream, he proposed.
They look forward to sharing the future with each other, and with you.
