4th of July celebrations are taken very seriously in Salmon. The week leading up to the 4th usually consists of sidewalk sales, western play days, demolition derby, community river floats, fireworks, etc. Feel free to arrive early in Salmon and partake of the activities!
Salmon is the birthplace of Sacajawea and naturally, we have many monuments and Lewis and Clark historical sites around the valley. The Sacajawea Center (also the location of our wedding ceremony) has an easy loop trail that is great for birding and learning about local Native American lifestyles.
An amazing hot springs that requires a fairly challenging 2 mile (one way) hike. Views are unmatched and there are often many pools, however, we recommend going in smaller groups to avoid overcrowding. Not stroller friendly but you can carry a kiddo in a backpack if you are up for it! As always, pack out what you pack in.
This is a great rural hot springs with two developed pools managed by the BLM. A good option if you would like to partake of an Idaho hot spring but can't do much hiking.
Fantastic sourdough bakery located on Main Street in Salmon. Locally owned woodfired baked goods that have brought tourists from all over the globe. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches sold in the morning or grabbing some 80 mile bread for lunches during your stay.
A great place to rent kayaks or rafting equipment. Has daily whitewater excursions on the scenic Salmon River.
A fun place to go hiking or mountain biking. Please, watch out for rattlesnakes!
