There is a wide variety of stays in Vegas with the amenities to fit your desired experience! See the S&J guide to Las Vegas neighborhoods.
Summerlin was the place we called home for 8 years and still where we like to stay most in Las Vegas. Away from the hustle and bustle of The Strip, you can go for a hike in Red Rock Canyon National Park, jog on the 215 trail and grab great eats.
Summerlin is a little under 20 minutes from the Neon Museum.
There are a number of excellent hotels in the Summerlin area. Red Rock Resort just happens to be our favorite, and is where we will be staying. We were able to get a block of 10 rooms for easy booking. To book on the block,
Use the following URL: https://book.passkey.com/e/50779683
Or Call Red Rock Directly at:
702-797-7777 and room block name is SanBaum Wedding Party and the group code is RCISBWP
Of note, they have said that the rate should be available beyond the 10 room block. If you are told otherwise, please let us know ASAP and we can connect with the good people at Red Rock Casino.
WHY WE LOVE IT: Location, location, location! Hike in Red Rock Canyon, grab a coffee at Makers & Finders or a bite in Downtown Summerlin. Like all hotels in this area, you will also find free parking and plenty of amenities - including a very nice pool if that is your thing.
We wouldn't be doing our best tour guide impressions if we didn't include the infamous Las Vegas Strip! The Strip is a great choice if you want to take advantage of the restaurant scene, shows and all night entertainment. If this is your first time in Las Vegas, you won't want to leave without experiencing The Strip.
The Strip is about 15-20 minutes from the Neon Museum and 20 minutes from Summerlin.
WHY WE LOVE IT: It is The Strip experience without the inescapable dings of the slot machine. Nestled in between the Cosmopolitan (our favorite) and the Aria (also quite fancy), you are in the center of the action with an easy in and out from Las Vegas Blvd. Jonathan surprised Sara with a staycation here - the room as lovely and the views are phenomonal!
Commonly mistaken for "The Strip", Downtown Las Vegas is also known as Old Vegas or Old Town. The iconic Neon Cowboy? Yep - that's where he is! Along the Freemont Street Experience you will also find the historic Binions, Golden Nugget and $1 shrimp cocktail.
Over the last 10 - 15 years, two distinct neighborhoods have emerged as local hangouts in Downtown Las Vegas - Freemont East and The Arts District. Both boast good food, art, and cultural happenings. Hotels in these area will be closest to the ceremony and reception venues - about a 5 minute drive. It is about 15 minutes from Summerlin.
Jonathan and Sara both worked in areas of downtown for the majority of their time in Vegas. We know it very well! Please ask about specific hotel of interest or any other recommendations.
WHY WE LIKE IT: The Golden Nugget, while older has some of the nicer upgrade rooms and pools. They also offer free parking for guests.
Remember - this area is quite vintage and a bit less shiny than other areas of town - Freemont Street certainly lives up to its "experience" title!
This is the new hotel in Freemont Street Experience. It is 21+ and said to be very nice.
