June 14, 2015 (exactly ten years before their wedding day!), Sarah and Jason met working as camp counselors at a summer camp in Maine. Jason started attending Kingsley Pines Camp in 2004 and Sarah started attending in 2005. They both loved growing up going to camp! Sarah started working as a camp counselor in 2012, and Jason started working there in 2015. 2015 was Jason's first summer working there and Sarah's last. The two met while in line for lunch when Sarah noticed Jason's Maryland sunglasses (MD pride) and the rest was history! The two quickly became best friends that summer.
Shortly after meeting, Jason found out that Sarah would be leaving for the Peace Corps in September! The two were obviously just going to be friends because Sarah would soon be leaving to the other side of the world for 2.5 years. Well... that didn't last long. At some point over the summer, the two started dating and continued to date after camp ended and Jason went back to the University of Maryland.
Flash forward a few years: The two reconnected at the same summer camp in 2018. Sarah had completed her Peace Corps service in Sāmoa and was working in DC. Jason had graduated from UMD and was spending the summer as a camp counselor again. Sarah was dropping off her little sister at camp, as Samantha was going to be attending that summer. Sarah and Jason saw each other for the first time in 3 years in the same place they had first met. And now the rest really was history!
Sarah and Jason rekindled their relationship in 2018 while Sarah was working in DC and Jason was in Philadelphia. In 2020, they moved to Boston as Jason began law school at Northeastern. Despite the many challenges of navigating moving to a new city amid a global pandemic, they loved their time in Boston, enjoying skiing and hiking throughout New England and traveling to destinations like Chicago, Nashville, NYC, Peru, and Seattle.
In May 2023, Jason graduated from Northeastern law school and the couple quickly boarded a plane to Greece. Once in Greece, Sarah and Jason met up with Sarah's family and family friends - a trip that had been in the works for years! The 7 of them boarded a catamaran and lived on it for a week, bopping around to different Greek islands every day. It was the trip of a lifetime! One night, the family got off the boat on the island of Antiparos for sunset. Sarah's sister and best friend set the two up to film a video, which the group had been doing the whole trip. Sarah and Jason started to film the video and when Sarah turned around, Jason was down on his knee. A lot of screaming, crying, and shock later, Sarah asked "What are you doing??" and Jason responded "I'm proposing!" A picture perfect proposal in Greece that Sarah never saw coming!
The two are so excited to get married at a summer camp in Maine, just like how they met.
