Things to Do

While we hope you stay at Camp Snyder all weekend, you can also make a longer trip out of it! Maine is absolutely beautiful in June. Here are some of our favorite activities and places to visit:

Sebago Lake

Picture of Sebago Lake

The same lake that Camp Snyder is on - Sebago Lake is the deepest and second-largest lake in the state of Maine. Sebago Lake State Park offers 250 campsites in two campgrounds, Naples Beach and Witch Cove, each with beaches and boat ramps. Boating and swimming are also available at the day-use area in the park's east section. Other park features include hiking trails and roadway biking.

Pleasant Mountain

Pleasant Mountain is a half hour drive from Camp Snyder. It's one of many mountains in the surrounding area, offering a range of hiking trails with rewarding views of the surrounding lakes and forests. A (not-so) fun fact: Pleasant Mountain is where Sarah tore her knee skiing in February 2024!

Portland, Maine

Camp Snyder is about an hour away from Portland, Maine - the big city! Old Port is very charming, with lots of shops and food options. Sarah and Jason also love Portland Head Light, a historic lighthouse. Don't forget to grad a lobster roll while in Portland!

If the Sea Dogs are in town, we highly recommend catching a Sea Dogs baseball game. They are the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Fun fact: Sarah and Jason shared a Sea Dogs Biscuit (cookie ice cream sandwich) at a Sea Dogs game before ever dating!

Some of our other favorite places in Portland:

- Allagash Brewery

- Fort Allen Park and the Eastern Promenade

- Commercial Street

The White Mountains

Freeport, Maine
