When booking your travel to St. John, you will be flying in to Cyril E. King airport on St. Thomas (STT is the airport code). Once you arrive in St. Thomas you will then hop in a taxi to one of two ferry terminals.
Option 1: You can opt for a longer boat ride (~30min) and shorter taxi ride (~5min) by going to Crown Bay Marina and catching the Inter Island ferry to St. John. This ferry has limited time options so make sure to check if one of their times fits your flight schedule.
Option 2: Taxi to Red Hook (~30min) and then catch the Red Hook ferry to St. John (~10min). This ferry runs every hour on the hour so if you miss one by a few minutes, have a drink at the bar and catch the next one that runs.
This is a unique location with many villas all within a gated community with a clubhouse. There are different size villas to accommodate groups of all sizes or even split up and rent a few villas all near each other. All of the villas are fully equipped with kitchens, washer/dryers, parking, etc. I would suggested renting a car if you decide to stay here. While taxis will happily come and escort you wherever you want to go, they are not waiting on site so you will need to call ahead and wait for them. The sunsets from here are spectacular and there is a clubhouse with a pool and restaurant. It's a short less than 5min drive into Cruz Bay.
*there is a discount for staying here as part of the wedding so make sure to let them know you're here to celebrate us*
Don't feel like renting a car? Grande Bay is located right in Cruz Bay. You can walk to all the bars and restaurants from here! The rooms range from studios with a kitchenette to 3 bedrooms with full kitchens and amenities. Some of the rooms are even lock off suites where you and another couple can share but each have your own space. You can rent a car while staying here but know that each villa rental doesn't always come with a parking space which then can be tricky to find overnight parking for your vehicle. I would suggest not renting a car and using a taxi to get around. The taxi stand is a short 3min walk from the resort where you can catch a ride anywhere else on island you would like to go.
Gallow's sits on the point coming into Cruz Bay. While you'll feel like you're not right in town when staying here, it's a short 3 minute walk down the waterfront to get to all the shops and restaurants in Cruz Bay.
Newly renovated after the hurricanes in 2017. Tamarind Inn is a more budget friendly place to stay. While still located in Cruz Bay it sits just on the outskirts of the town so it's more like a 5-7 minute walk into town.
Another great option is to look at AirBnb or VRBO for a villa rental on island! We can give plenty of recommendations but its also fun to do your own research and then ask us our thoughts on your top picks!
Do not book through AirBnb or VRBO though. We will help you find the local management company to book directly with so you can save all the extra fees those sites charge. Areas to look at are anywhere on the south side of St. John like Cruz Bay, Great Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole, Rendezvous/Ditliff and Gifft Hill. Let us know if you have questions!
