What is the exact location of the wedding ceremony in the Redwoods?
The reception will be located at the Leiffer Loop trailhead in the Jedediah Smith State Park. The trail is 1-mile loop, but guest will only need to walk a short distance to get to the location for the ceremony.
Is there parking available at the ceremony venue?
Guests will park along Walker Road or in the designated parking spots for Leiffer Loop and Ellsworth Loop. It is recommended that guests carpool to limit the amount of cars being parked along the road.
Are there any accommodations nearby for out-of-town guests?
There are lots of accommodations available in Brookings, Oregon, which is a well-traveled costal getaway. Hotels are abundant, but we recommend looking at a VRBO or AirBnb for a more authentic Brookings stay.
What is the dress code for the ceremony and reception?
The dress code for the ceremony is semi-formal and costal chic. The dress code for the reception is costal chic. Essentially, we would like guest to be a bit dressed up or polished. After all, you will be photographed, but we still want you to be comfortable in relaxed clothing that is not overly restrictive. If you are not sure what costal chic is, then give it a quick Google, and you will find lots of examples of this dress-code style.
Will there be any specific themes or activities we should prepare for?
The only activities you should be prepared for are going on a walk/stroll after the ceremony along the Leiffer Loop or down one of the Simpson Reed trails. As such, you might want to bring a change of shoes in your vehicle, to change into something a bit more comfortable for the stroll. If you do not go very far, then you will find that both trails to do not climb in elevation and are relatively flat.
You will also want to possibly bring a pair of sandals to the reception, so you can walk along the beach and even get your feet wet with a christening of ocean waves.
Are children welcome at the reception?
They are absolutely welcome to come the ceremony and reception. You may want to bring a change of clothes for them to play on the beach and around the tidepools.
Is the reception venue indoor or outdoor?
The reception is an indoor and outdoor venue. The food and drinks will be inside, and we hope most guests will enjoy spending the evening on the balcony. If weather is cold or wet, there will still be enough space in the indoor part of the venue. You will also have a place to put any changes of clothing or items that you might like to bring to the reception.
What time should we arrive at the ceremony and reception?
We would recommend trying to show up at least 15 minutes before the ceremony. This ceremony is on a Saturday in a well-visited part of the redwoods. With plans to arrive early, you will give yourself a nice cushion to arrive on time.
Is a gift registry set up, and where can we find it?
We do have a gift registry set up. This was done by request from a few family members who will not be present at the wedding. Gifts are not expect, but of course, they are appreciated. Most importantly, your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift.
Should we expect any part of the event to be unplugged (no photos or phones)?
Yes, our wedding ceremony will be unplugged. At the very end of the ceremony, we will give you a moment to take photos, if you wish. Our reception will not be unplugged other than a few special moments. During the reception, we encourage you to take pictures and videos.
We want you to be fully in the moment with us during the wedding. Plus, we hired a rad photographer, so we trust her to capture the moment.
