For Washington folks: Make sure you have a RealID or passport! They will start enforcing it in May 2025 and you'll need it to fly.
Do I need a rental car?
NO! There is no need for a car, and parking is a nightmare. An uber from the airport is $30-50, or the BART train will take you into town for $10. Ubers from one end of the city to the other are typically $15-25, and the trains and buses can take you anywhere you want to go! We've even taken the train to a friends wedding at City Hall!
Get a Clipper Card to use the public transit!
All of the public transit in the bay area uses the Clipper Card, and you can get a digital version on your phone for easy reload and use!
Go here to download a clipper card to your google or apple wallet.
If you'd prefer a physical card, you can purchase one at the BART station at the train, or any of the major underground train stations. For using the public transit, Google Maps has very accurate times and generally every line is every 15 minutes.
