Visit Beaches

Windansea Beach: (Sarahs favorite) A picturesque spot known for its stunning coastal views, unique sandstone cliffs, and a famous surf break that's popular with experienced surfers.

La Jolla Shores: (Jakes favorite) known for its gentle waves, making it ideal for swimming, kayaking, and beginner surfing. The expansive sandy beach is perfect for picnics, and it's a popular spot for launching ocean adventures like snorkeling and scuba diving in the nearby La Jolla Underwater Park.

Pacific Beach: Lively coastal neighborhood known for its vibrant boardwalk, surf-friendly waves, and laid-back beach bars.

Mission Beach: Great for a classic beach experience with boardwalks and Belmont Park.

Coronado Beach: Known for its iconic Hotel del Coronado and wide sandy shores.

La Jolla Shores

A great place to watch seals and go for a walk with ocean views. Close to upscale restaurants and near downtown La Jolla.

Sunny Jim's Sea Cave

This tunnel was dug out by two Chinese laborers hired by German artist, mining engineer, and entrepreneur Gustav Schultz in 1902. It leads from the Cave Store, Schultz’s original residence, down through the sandstone cliffs of La Jolla Cove and into Sunny Jim’s Sea Cave. Tours are self-guided. Come prepared to both descend and climb the original 144 stairs (roughly a five-minute ascent at a gentle pace).

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

Natural reserve with a bunch of different hiking trails. There is free parking on the main road if you're willing to hike up to the top of the reserve before starting your ocean-view trails. You can pay to park at bottom parking lot and still walk to the top or you can pay to drive to the top and start hikes from there.

USS Midway Museum

WWII aircraft carrier tour. Decommissioned ship used in the battle of Midway. Really cool tour, Jake has done this and spent nearly four hours touring the ship. Entrance price is $32/ adult, $22/ child, $22/ veterans.
