Hello and welcome to our wedding website! We’re Sarah and Michael, and our story begins a little over two years ago thanks to our mutual friend, Hannah. She set us up on a date at a Super Bowl party, though the first time we actually saw each other was almost a year prior. Michael likes to joke that he tried to pick me up before Hannah set us up by simply saying, “Happy Birthday,” but I just didn’t catch on at the time!
After being set up on what was basically a blind date (we did know what eachother looked like) I wanted to find an excuse to talk to him, offering a tequila shot. In classic Michael fashion he accepts and follows it up with a question. "have you had enough protein today?" Both being avid gym-goers he might as well have said "I love you" right then and there. He proceeded to make me my own protein shake at 10 at night! Hahaha.
Our first official date was perfectly tailored to both of us—starting with a workout at the gym followed by smoothies at Tropical Smoothie. That same evening, Michael invited me to dinner in Ann Arbor at Real Seafood Co. If you're unfamiliar, at the time Michael lived in East Lansing. He drove all the way to Brighton for our workout and smoothies, drove back home to shower and immediately get ready for dinner and then drove all the way back to Ann Arbor. We enjoyed eachothers company so much we decided to extend the evening with a nightcap at a bar down the street. By the very next day, we had both deleted our dating apps.
Our connection grew quickly, built on a shared love of working out, hiking, nature, and of course, dogs. In the two years since that first date, we’ve experienced so much together—moving into our first apartment, adopting our beloved pup, Rowdy (who found us at just the right time), and watching Michael land his dream job, something he had mentioned on our very first date. Life has truly been good to us, and we’re excited to see where the next chapter takes us.
