This area of Tennessee is absolutely gorgeous and chocked full of hikes and fun activities to do. We hope that you all take a day or more to explore the area. Here are some of our favorite things to do!!
This is a staple activity for a trip to Gatlinburg! Take the skylift up to the observatory deck, and for the adventurous folks, walk across the longest suspension bridge in North America.
Our favorite Moonshine distillery and tasting room is Sugarlands, but Ole Smokey and XXX are also very good options. There are also several wineries and cider shops down the way that offer great tasting options. Check out Tennessee Homemade Wines for mouthwatering peach, blackberry, or strawberry wines and more!!
There are several Alpine Coasters in the area, and they are a blast! Single riders go down on a seated buggy with brakes so you can control the speed as you ride down the mountainside.
Outdoor go-karting is popular in Pigeon Forge and this one is a multi-level course!
Perfect date night in the lighted treetops!
While we have never hiked with llamas, it sounds like an absolute blast. If any of you do this, let us know what you thought of the experience!!
The only Zorbing experience in the United States! May be a bit cold for October, but if you are willing to throw on your suit and hop in a ball filled with warm water, you can ride--or try to run-- down a hill.
Great outlook point and a popular attraction!
Laurel Falls is one of the most popular waterfalls in the Great Smokies because of the short paved trail and the view at the end!
Cades Cove is a great loop to drive or rent bikes and get a view of some of the historic buildings including Cabel Mill. Additionally, this is one of your best chances to see some of the Smoky's Wildlife including deer or bears!
This is a longer hike as you are summiting a mountain, but the views are 100% worth the time and effort. At the top of the mountain, there are primitive cabins for rent and a main cabin where you can order lunch. All food is packed up with llamas so keep an eye out for them, you may get lucky and see them!
For the more experienced hikers and those wanting a challenge, check out the Chimney Tops. Make sure you look up the hike ahead of time though, because the trail is notorious for being closed due to weather or other environmental restraints.
