This is a wonderful Saturday-only market in downtown Portland on the PSU campus. Both Sarah and Emily love getting bread from Dos Hermanos, and veggies from various stands. This market also uses tokens if you use SNAP or EBT!
Pro tip: get there by Tri-Met to avoid parking.
Pro-tip #2: RUN, do not walk, to the fancy ravioli guy. Try all of them.
An underrated gem of Portland. It is an informative and immersive museum into Oregon’s history with some specific history about the city itself. We have loved visiting this museum whenever we are in the area. There are discounted rates for students and teachers (with ID), Seniors 60+, Youth 17 and under (free!), while all Multnomah county residents (with proof of residency) are free!
This is as Portland as you can get in a market! It is a craft/trade oriented all-day Saturday market. Check out a candle shop run by one of Sarah’s former student’s family, discover handmade pottery and ceramic-everything-you-can-dream-of, and indulge in the delicious pupusas from a food cart stationed by the water park!
This is a delicious Mexican-inspired coffee shop run by one of Emily’s coworkers. We got coffee here the day that Emily proposed! Sarah can attest to their top-notch espresso quality.
You can’t explore Portland without checking out Powell’s Books on Burnside; the world’s largest independent book store. Check out the music selection in the Orange section, and work your way on up to Level 3, the best old-book smelling section.
This is one of Sarah’s favorite beer spots in Portland. Get the steak Gorgonzola nachos to share with half and half chips and fries. You won’t regret it.
Excellent Italian coffee and bistro spot. The owner is a great conversationalist and will make your coffee exactly to taste. If you order any food here, it will be delicious and well-priced. Play a game of chess as you enjoy people watching through the giant glass windows.
A favorite date spot for Sarah and Emily. We have taken Emily’s little sister here for some fun glow in the dark mini golf. They also have axe throwing if you are someone with a lot of rage and little patience.
