Hunter and Sarah first met in the mailroom of Sayers Hall at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. Sarah was a freshman in college and Hunter was a residential assistant on the floor below where Sarah lived. Hunter would frequently work in the mailroom of Sayers Hall. Sarah went to the mailroom one day to pick up a care package her parents had sent her for Valentine's Day. Hunter gave Sarah her package in the mailroom. Sarah immediately had a weird feeling that Hunter was the one after meeting him in the mailroom and called her friend Savannah Hinz, who is now a bridesmaid in the wedding. Sarah told Savannah that she had just met her future husband in the mailroom.

Hunter and Sarah were involved in CRU at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. CRU is an inter-denominational Christian ministry on campus that helps connect students to Christ. Hunter worked in leadership roles within CRU, which included going on mission trips to share the word of Christ, discipling fellow colleagues to better understand the Bible and working in the coffee shop provided by CRU. Sarah would occasionally get coffee made from Hunter at this coffee shop at CRU events. Following a CRU event on October 26th, 2017, Savannah used Sarah's phone to add Hunter on Instagram. Savannah used Sarah's Instagram to message Hunter and ask if he wanted to go out for coffee. Hunter said yes to coffee and a date was finalized.

Hunter and Sarah met each other for coffee at Jo's Cafe in San Marcos, TX near campus. Hunter showed up to the date wearing basketball shorts and a t-shirt. Sarah got dressed up in jeans and a nice black sweater. Hunter to this day swears it was not the couple's first date. Sarah left that date feeling as though it did not go well because Hunter was quiet for the majority of the time. Little did Sarah know at the time, Hunter was only quiet because Sarah kept talking because she was nervous.

Hunter and Sarah would causally text each other every other week starting from their coffee excursion. Savannah and Sarah decided to go to Cowboys Dance Hall one night after CRU with some friends. Sarah decided to invite Hunter and luckily he came. Sarah and Hunter talked the entire night at the dance hall and shared some dances. This night helped Sarah and Hunter realize that they had more in common then they thought. Their talks, laughs and moments shared at the dance hall allowed for Sarah and Hunter to solidify their feelings for one another.

Hunter and Sarah went on their first official date on December 3rd, 2017. While driving back from the dance hall, Sarah saw some beautiful Christmas lights by campus. Hunter researched where the lights were from and found that it was the glass bottom boat tours offered by the campus. Hunter surprised Sarah and took her to the glass boat tours on their first date so she could see the lights she saw a few nights before. Hunter took Sarah to his favorite Mediterranean restaurant, Nostimo's, for dinner. At dinner, Sarah had mentioned that she had always wanted to go to Sights and Sounds, a Christmas festival in Plaza Park in San Marcos, TX. Hunter surprised Sarah and took her to the festival after dinner.

The couple continued to talk more throughout the week. As the talking started to become an every day kind of thing and the feelings grew stronger, Hunter decided that it may be time to officially start dating. CRU held a winter dance at the McCoy's Building Supply Corporate Office on December 7th, 2017. San Marcos, TX had a large snow day on that day. Hunter and Sarah went to the dance and then Hunter invited Sarah over to Sayers Hall to watch Harry Potter. While watching Harry Potter in the snow storm, Hunter asked Sarah to be his girlfriend and the rest is history.

Over the years, Hunter and Sarah both graduated college and established their careers. On January 2nd, 2022, Hunter was completing his Airforce pilot training at Randolph Airforce base and Sarah was working as a NICU registered nurse in Austin, TX. Hunter and Sarah planned a date in San Marcos, TX. Hunter decided to surprise Sarah and take her everywhere that they went to on their first date. He took her to Nostimo's, which was closed down. He gladly to her to Black's BBQ instead. Following lunch, he took her to the Plaza Park where Sights and Sounds is normally held. After reliving some of their favorite memories together from their first date, Hunter proposed to Sarah in the park where they had their first date.
