We met in Israel. We were both at Stanford taking the Bio-Entrepreneurship summer course. While we were on different projects, we spent many hours on the bus conversing about our mutual love for gardening, dinosaurs, Super Mario Brothers 3, and a culinary discovery that was new to both of us: figs. We grew closer and closer during the trip until it came time for Sarah to head back to the United States. Dean offered for her to stay at his house while he was still away and Sarah fell in love with his surly dog. The rest is history.
