Things to Do, Food, and Drinks!

Lady Bird Lake/Lamar Pedestrian Bridge

110 Lamar St, Austin, TX

Take a walk on Lady Bird Lake trail. We love to walk up to the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge and take in the scenic view. See the turtles swimming in the lake and enjoy ALL of the dogs (Sarah's favorite!) on the trail. There is a 10 mile path around the lake that Sarah and Logan jogged many times while training for their first half marathon! You can also rent a kayak or paddle board from spots on the trail.

Taco Joint for Breakfast!

We highly recommend walking over to our favorite breakfast taco place, Taco Joint. Our order is 2 migas tacos with chipotle sauce. From what we hear the cold brew is great too!

Terry Blacks

You MUST walk across the bridge to the famous Terry Blacks BBQ! Logan recommends the brisket, chopped beef, and beef ribs. Any sides are delicious!

You'll want to go around 11 am, 2 pm, or 3 pm to avoid long lines! Make sure to take a tour in the pit!

Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar

Though youll need to uber or drive (10 minutes) we 10/10 recommend stopping at Loro for Asian BBQ. They do not take reservations, so we recommend going early!

Logans order - Chicken Karaage and a Pork Belly Bowl. Pairs nicely with a Gin & Tonic Slushie.

Sarahs order - Corn fritters and the Salmon Bowl or Brisket. Pairs nicely with Mango Sake Slushie .. have to try!

Rustic Tap

Have yourself a day (or a night!) out at one of our favorite bars - Rustic Tap! It is downtown, just a short walk from the hotels we recommended. It is a fun outdoor bar with a lot of TVs. Check their website to see their live music schedule!

Wu Chow for Dinner

You cant miss Wu Chow on your list of places to go! If you go for dinner, youll need a reservation. We recommend the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, Honey Gulf Prawns, Tangerine Peel Beef, and the Wu Chow Special Fried Rice. If youve never had a soup dumpling, nows the time to try!!!

Barton Springs Municipal Pool

Logan would say if you do one thing in Austin all weekend its this! A natural spring fed pool basically in the heart of the city. It stays 68-69 degrees all year around. It is the perfect way to cool off in the 100 degree heat. There is a $5 charge and the easiest way to pay is to download the ATXswims app. The south entrance is less crowded in the summer but a little harder to find. Search "The Monkey Tree" in google and you will end up in the right place, we promise.

See the Bats

Congress Avenue Bridge, S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704

South Congress bridge is home to 1.5 million Mexican Free-tailed bats depending on the season. In late May there won't quite be that many as the babies are not yet ready to fly, but you can still get a good show that normally begins right around sunset.

ATX Cocina

We highly recommend eating at ATX Cocina! It is one of our favorite places and walking distance from the hotel downtown. Get the Sopes and Atun!

Red Ash

One of Sarah’s favorite restaurants in the city is Red Ash! It is likely crowded, so call ahead. The best pasta ever and is walking distance from the hotel!

Walk 2nd Street District

2nd street is one street over from the Austin Marriott Downtown. Walk the street, see some shops, you can also grab some food!

We also recommend walking South Congress street, but it is a further walk!
