It is a 2 hour drive from the resort, but well worth it. Do not buy ANYTHING along the road to get there though. Everything sold on the way in is over-priced and not necessary, no matter what they tell you. And you don't need a tour-guide, though we did hear decent things.
One hour away, and very inexpensive. The tour is about 2-5 hours. The guide will take you to three different cenotes, each very unique. There is one with two places to cliff-jump into (Mayan Sacrifice ledge was very scary), another has a zipline and the third is underground and super cool.
If you want to explore a nearby town, Puerto Morelos is a great option. It's only 20 minutes away, and has a bunch of great bars and restaurants. A lot of the restaurants have a cool New Orleans vibe.
There are a bunch of fishing charters in the area. The area is good for: barracuda, mahi-mahi, amberjack, marlin / sailfish, snapper, wahoo, etc. You can book your own charter, or join a boat with others.
On-site spa. There are fun options available outside the scope of a typical spa, such as a Mayan cleansing ritual under the guidance of a Mayan shaman (Temazcal, like a sweat-lodge). Everything about the venue is beautiful.
