Good to know before the wedding
When should I book my Flight and Hotel?
Amsterdam is a very popular holiday destination, especially in summer. Please make sure you book your Flights and hotel as soon as possible to avoid higher prices.
Pro tip: A large festival takes place on the same day as the wedding which means that the hotels are likely to book up quickly for the city centre.
Which airport should I fly to?
The easiest option from Sweden, Bulgaria and the UK is to fly into Schipol Airport approximately 15 min away from Amsterdam city centre.
What does the "Summer Party Dressy" dress code mean (Friday: The Welcome party)?
So for Friday evenings welcome event Sarah & Ivan will be dressed up. We would say that this is a dressed up but casual event. This simply means, no jeans, shorts, cargo trousers or t-shirts with prints on them. It also means no too relaxed shoes e.g flip flops or birkenstocks.
As a guideline, I would say the ladies can wear a dress, skirt with a top or elegant trousers and a top with high heels.
Men: Nice trousers and sneakers. No tie or button shirt necessary.
What does the "Summer Cocktail" dress code mean (Saturday: Wedding Day)?
Ladies: This means a dress with heels. You can wear a floor length dress but it is not necessary. Instead you can wear a tea-length, knee-length, or midi dress.
Please note that we prefer if the ladies would avoid any dresses that could be confused with white. This includes: White, off-white, ivory and light beige. When I say prefer, I mean you will be removed from the premises ;) .
Please bring a cardigan as it might be cold in the afternoon depending on the weather.
Men: This means a suit, buttoned shirt, tie/bowtie and formal shoes. No sneakers, Birkenstocks or flip flops.
If it is nice weather, consider bringing sun glasses.
Does the venue accomadate dietary requirements?
Yes, absolutely - this goes for vegans, vegetarians and allergies.
How to get around Amsterdam?
How do I get from the airport to the City Centre
The easiest and cheapest way to get to the City Centre is to take the train from Schipol Airport. It takes 20 minutes and is around 6 euros.
Another option is to order an Uber and walk to the Uber Pick Up point outside the Airport for around 40-50 euros.
How do I get around?
Public transport in Amsterdam is very smooth and you can take the tram, metro, bus, uber/bolt or of course bike!
Biking: The easiest and most beautiful way to get around is to bike. The whole city has biking lanes and while people are used to tourists on bike you will be told off for holding up cyclists traffic so go forward with confidence.
The cost of a bike is around 15 euros per day.
**Top tip - Rent bikes in advance, as they sell out quickly in the city centre on days with good weather.
Public Transport: You can pay contactless on the tram, metro and bus (checking in by scanning AND checking out by scanning). **Top Tip - if you forget to scan out, you will be charged a fee of 20 euros.
