Our Wedding

Nick and I met at Puckett High School, and it was such a God thing that our paths crossed there, especially since neither of us were originally from that town. I’m from the Mize/Mount Olive area of Mississippi, and Nick is from Bloomington, Indiana. Because of different family circumstances, we both ended up at Puckett. Nick moved the summer before junior year, and we had business finance class together that first semester in August 2016. We quickly became good friends, sitting together and doing classwork together. At the time, I only ever saw him as a friend (I was dating someone on and off), but I had a feeling Nick liked me more than just a friend. Regardless, he became one of my closest guy friends. He always gave me the best advice, especially about my questionable taste in guys before dating him (how ironic, right?). Nick was always there for me. He moved back to Indiana in February 2018, but we kept in touch. On our last day of high school together, I even made him brownies for his long drive back north. As the year went on, I started college, Nick began working full-time, and we both dated other people, so our conversations became rare, but Nick would still check in every few months, always thoughtful and kind. Out of respect for my boyfriend at the time, I kept conversations with guys brief, so we never talked consistently... until September 2022. That September, Nick reached out again after a few months of not talking, and I happened to be single. Somehow, we never stopped talking after that. On October 11, 2022, after a five-hour phone call, Nick admitted that he had been in love with me since we were sixteen. I didn’t know how dating would work with him in Indiana and me in Mississippi, but on November 30, 2022, Nick flew to Mississippi to spend a week with me. During that week, I realized I wasn’t ready to date because of the trauma from my previous relationship, but I knew Nick was the right person for me; it was just the wrong timing. I prayed for God to remove him from my life if he wasn’t right for me, or somehow make him wait if it was His will for us to be together. In March 2023, Nick came back to Mississippi to try again, and this time, everything felt right. I was ready to open my heart fully to him. We navigated the challenges of long-distance dating, which wasn’t always easy, but it was absolutely worth it. On August 23, 2025, the long-distance finally ended. We eloped and moved to Huntsville, Alabama, almost halfway between our hometowns. We needed to move in August because of Nick’s lease and job, and since I work from home, it made sense for us to go ahead and start this next chapter together. We had a small elopement with some of my family as witnesses, and it was a sweet start to our marriage. Now, we’re so excited to celebrate our love with all of our family and friends at our wedding on November 22, 2025. We can’t wait to officially share this special day with everyone and continue our life together as one.
