It started with a message on a dating app. He asked if she had eaten her way through Taste of Cincinnati; she laughed and shared she ended up making a ton of new food at home instead. And as they say...the rest is history.

June 2018

Our first date was at Bakersfield in OTR, where we ordered bourbon (he took the shot, she decided to sip it instead...) and one of every taco option from the menu. We walked to the river, sat on the swings, talked, laughed, and got to know each other. He walked her to her car, and the first kiss was in an empty parking lot in downtown Cincinnati. While there is some debate as to when we officially became a "couple" (he says the 13th, she says the 14th), the fact remains that June is the month the relationship started.

We've adventured locally and across the pond together since then, and continue to find new places to explore.

The Proposal

It's Black Friday in 2020. We are having friends over for a "start to the holiday season" party. Melanie suggested dressing up so we can snap Christmas card pictures with our dog, Ellie. About an hour before friends arrived, Melanie complained and asked about just wearing sweats instead. Sean convinced her to stay dressed up for the pictures; sweatpants could happen after! Friends arrive, pictures are started and Sean gives Melanie her annual ornament early, which was suspicious... She opened the ornament to see the wedding scene from the movie "UP", but no ring. She stated that it was weird to be opening this, but placed it on the tree as Sean got down on one knee. Melanie proceeded to dance backwards out of the room and exclaim "No you did not! Is this real?!" Sean asked if Melanie would marry him, to which Melanie laughed/cried "YES!" She then proceeded to tell Sean "Thank you" after he said "I love you."

While COVID may have put a damper on our first Disney trip together (and unbeknownst to Melanie, the originally planned proposal), we are happy to be marking a visit to Disneyland Paris during our honeymoon.

We are so incredibly excited to celebrate the beginning of our married life with our friends and family. It is important to us that you have as much on our day as we do! Be prepared to eat, drink, and dance the night away. June can't come soon enough!
