Our Wedding

John and Selena started at Resilience on the same day - August 2nd, 2021 - where they both worked in manufacturing. Because they started together, they were partnered up on everything from buying steel-toed shoes to making medicine together. (Photo taken on their 3 year anniversary at the company)

Where/When They Met

John and Selena went on their first vacation together in May 2022 to Jamaica with John’s family. The highlights were the all-inclusive Bahama Mama’s and the Catamaran party!

First Vacation

John made his first trip to Manteno for one of Selena’s famous birthday parties in June 2022 and fit right in with the family!

Selena taught John what a golden birthday was and was pumped to find out she met him just in time for his! She threw him a surprise golden birthday party for his 31st on August 31, 2022!

John and Selena spent their first Christmas together in matching pajamas. Selena bought Ghost a funny sweater that put a Santa doll on his back, but Ghost kept trying to bite poor Santa and they had to take it off.

First Christmas Together

If you didn’t know, Selena is part of a world famous rockband called NCFA that she formed with her dad, her siblings, her cousin Wyatt, and best friend Sam. Many have joined them in their wild shows over the years, and in December 2022 John got to partake in the magic.

John’s family loves going to Disney with all of the kids! In March 2023, the family spent the week visiting every park in cute matching shirts. Selena had never been to Disney before so she was just as amazed as the kids walking through all of the parks!

John and Selena attended J Cole’s Dreamville festival in April 2023. They were beyond excited when surprise guests Lil Wayne and Drake performed at the headline show!

Back again for another birthday party in June 2023, Johnny experienced his first Chicago deep dish and his face says it all.

Although Selena grew up an hour from the city, she had never been to the Chicago SkyDeck so the couple experienced it together in June 2023!

In June 2023, John and Selena moved into a townhouse together where they learned all of each other’s greatest and worst attributes. The highlights are John is an outstanding cleaner and Selena is an amazing cook!

Officially Roommates

In September 2023, John and Selena visited Athens and Santorini with John’s family. The couple loved riding ATVs around the island and the beautiful sunsets!

Greece Trip

John’s good friend Mark throws an epic a Christmas party every year. Fun fact - this party was the first event John brought Selena to as her debut to his friends in 2021!

Selena and John had a wholesome NYE with the family to enter 2024 and hosted a series of games for everyone to compete in!

NYE 2023

John and Selena went on a trip to St Lucia in April 2024. There are many fun facts to know about this trip: - Selena genuinely didn’t think she was getting proposed to on this trip. - For months prior to the trip, John was in contact with a native photographer (named Hans) to plan where the proposal would happen. Hans played a huge role in this amazing proposal. - Selena took Sariah and Arunmani to help her pick vacation outfits and both were adamant she wear something white. - Selena forgot her curling iron on this trip. John secretly texted Selena’s mom Theresa and from 1000 miles away, Theresa arranged for a hotel worker to buy a curling iron and put it in Selena’s room. Not knowing her mom went through all the trouble, Selena didn’t even end up using the curling iron but kept it for the sweet memory of her mom doing absolutely anything for her. - John knew Selena would cry during the proposal and bought makeup (with Theresa’s help) for her to use before taking their engagement pictures. John knew he couldn’t hide the makeup in his pocket on the way to the beach, so he called Hans that morning. Hans drove to the hotel to pick it up and had it ready for Selena after the proposal. - John knew Selena would notice the ring box in his shorts pocket so he stuck the box in his underwear (under his balls) and did his best to walk without her noticing (she had no clue). - When the couple arrived to the beach, they walked out to a dock to watch the sunset. Hans was sitting on the dock “taking pictures of fish”. Selena asked Hans to take a picture of her and John with her phone. Hans played along and asked if he could pose them for a few pictures. He asked Selena to turn toward to mountain, and that was John’s cue to get down on a knee. John whipped the ring box out of his underwear so fast Hans didn’t even have time to get a picture of him with his hand down his shorts. - After the sweetest proposal of all time, the couple had dinner at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the island. Selena could not believe all of the thought and surprises that went into the proposal. She cried tears of pure love the entire dinner and John had to tell her to calm down so people didn’t think there was something wrong LOL. - After it was all said and done, Selena told John he was so calm and cool that she genuinely didn’t think he was proposing. Meanwhile John was internally juggling 100 things to make sure the day was perfect - talk about a total stud. - On their way to the airport at the end of the trip, the Uber driver was giving the couple a history lesson of the island. He told them that St Lucia’s Independence Day is February 22nd which is John and Selena’s dating anniversary. That last fact was the cherry on top of the most beautiful trip ever and St Lucia will always be John and Selena’s special place.

As if the proposal wasn’t enough, John planned a surprise engagement party for Selena the weekend after they got back from St Lucia. Selena’s family flew in and all of their NC friends and family were there to celebrate the couple.

Often mistaken as Selena's twin sister, Theresa is the mother of the bride and her all time best friend. From Selena's first steps to walking her down the aisle, Theresa has and will always be there for every laugh, tear, and milestone. It's no surprise the bride inherited her sweet and genuine heart from her mom. Theresa's thoughtfulness and attention to detail are bound to make this wedding one for the books!

When Kalen was born, he drove his mom home from the hospital. A cobra once bit Kalen and after 5 days of excruciating pain, the cobra died. When Kalen does a push-up, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down. Kalen can kill 2 stones with 1 bird. The reason nobody can find Bigfoot is because Kalen found him first. After the wedding, Kalen will be sending out “you’re welcome” cards to all of the guests.

Maria is the mother of the groom and John's all time best friend. She is the definition of a loving, hardworking, and all-around amazing mom. She’s always been there for her family, whether it’s offering a listening ear, giving great advice, or making sure her 5 kids felt supported every step of the way. As the mother of the groom, Maria couldn’t be prouder. She’s watched her favorite son grow into the incredible person he is today, and now, she’s overjoyed to welcome Selena into the family.

Russell is the father of the groom and former drill sergeant of the 5 Johnson kids. He’s always been a great dad and there for his family by leading by example, teaching his kids the importance of doing what’s right and standing by their values. A sharp shooter in more ways than one, he approaches life with focus, discipline, and a steady hand. Russell is excited for the big day & can't wait to officially welcome Selena to the family.

As Selena’s little sister, Sariah has had a front-row seat to all her best (and wildest) moments. Selena may have teased her growing up, but as they got older, they became the best of friends. Now living in Raleigh together, it is rare to find one without the other. Sariah is known for her dominance in beer pong and often gives the groom a run for his money in his favorite game (that he thinks he is the best at) and the bride loves every second of it.

Andy J is John’s youngest brother and one of his best friends. He’s a Tri-Sports Hall of Fame flag football player who’s all about the Panthers, the Wolfpack, and the so-called “GOAT” Lebron James. Andy loves 4-inch gym shorts and 4 leg alt line parlays. He also goes by the alias Drew Walters.

Migi Alejandro Johnson... the only Johnson rocking a Hispanic name. Miguel’s not just John’s little brother; he’s also one of his best friends. He knows just about everything there is to know about The Lord of the Rings and can school you on all things Middle-earth. Oh, and if you catch him on the dance floor, you might hear people calling him “The Menace".

Russell is John’s older brother and one of his best friends. He’s the only Johnson brother who looks like he might have some Hispanic in him—honestly, the verdict is still out if he’s adopted or not. He went from being that annoying big brother to someone John really looks up to. Russ has his hands full with four wild boys and one beautiful daughter. He’s all about the Redskins, the Wolfpack, and anything Marvel.

Selena transferred to the University of South Carolina, where she met Arunmani at a Gamecocks football game, and from that moment on they’ve been inseparable. Their college years were filled with unforgettable memories—some a little hazy thanks to the party juice—and their adventures only continued when they moved to Raleigh together. For the past seven years, they've been each other’s constant through every high and low, and Selena can’t imagine ever living in a different city than Arunmani again. With her infectious energy and love for a good time, Arunmani is sure to be the life of the party at the wedding!

James AKA Money and John go way back to the Southwest Middle School Days in 6th grade. He has always been John’s little boy, son, and first born. Becoming best friends in middle school turned into best friends as grown men. James greatest achievement is his hit single “Many Men” and his biggest failure is being a lifelong UNC fan.

Leegan and Selena were inseparable throughout middle and high school where they spent many nights making up dances, scaring their siblings, and laughing until their stomachs hurt. Before Leegan moved overseas after college, they got matching tattoos (Selena's first and only)—a turtle on their ankle—fulfilling a childhood pact to mark their bond. No matter the distance, Leegan is always willing to travel to live it up with Selena!

Matt and John’s friendship started in an arcade bar where john swept him in every game. Ever since then he became John’s son and second born. Since that day at boxcar, they became best friends and have been on nonstop adventures running glenwood, traveling the world, and making wild memories they both will never forget. Matt is also a Charlotte model and NC DJ known by the name Suunami. The only thing he loves more than house music is Aubrey Graham.

Caitlyn and Selena met on freshman move-in day at Indiana Tech where they played softball together and instantly became best friends. As the one who taught her how to truly let loose, Caitlyn is the bride's go-to girl for all things fun. Although they've both found their husbands, they humorously play into the stereotype of softball players and have a standing pact to run away together if the need ever arises.

Meet the slickest man that will be present at Drury Lane come August 15th. Darrick and John have been friends now for over 10+ years and what started as an ordinary friendship has turned into best friends that will last for life. Slick is known for speeding, espresso martinis, and going hard on the very last night of vacation. If you miss him on the dance floor just look for the shiny Gucci chain.

From the age of 10 to 18, Kiley and Selena spent every summer weekend playing travel softball together, building a bond that extended far beyond the field. Kiley quickly became a true part of the Schulteis family and always will be. Summers after softball turned into hilarious nights at the Manteno bars ending with Kiley ordering 25 McChickens from McDonalds. Known for her wild spirit, Kiley is always ready to have a good time!

Meet the MAYOR of Raleigh, North Carolina. Timmy turn up AKA “TANK”. One of the most genuine human beings you will meet on August 15th, Tim is also one of John’s best friends. Tim never leaves the house without his purple shades and is the hype man you need at any party. He is also one of the most positive humans alive which is crazy because he is a Mets and Jets fan. You will probably never catch him off the dance floor because one of his greatest skills is there is not a song, he does not know every lyric too.

Christina is John’s only sister and also one of his best friends. Christina helped raise John and his siblings and is an amazing human being. She is the mother of 4 awesome kids now whom she loves to spend time with. Chris is a harry potter and Disney fanatic. She is also one of the strongest humans out there and an inspiration to the couple.

From agitating to sibling rivalries, Skyler and Selena grew up driving each other crazy -  but deep down they wouldn't have it any other way. There's no doubt that Selena's heart is full having her brother by her side on her special day. Skyler will be making bets on how many times his sister cries on her wedding day, with his money on the over.

Lindsey is like a sister to John, one of his best friends, and an all-around amazing person with a genuinely kind heart. Always up for an adventure, she's got a love for ping pong and darts, though her all-time record against John is an impressive 3-789. As much as she’s fun-loving and spontaneous, her true specialty is being fashionably late and somehow managing to leave her phone in an Uber, at a bar, in a restaurant, or pretty much anywhere other than her purse.

Born only 6 months apart, Wyatt isn't just Selena's cousin - he's her lifelong best friend! From climbing trees, playing GameCube, and swimming like fish as kids to Wyatt's visits to Indiana and South Carolina every semester of college, they’ve had fun through every stage of life. Wyatt’s ultimate party trick? Belting out hard rock classics like Ace of Spades—and you can bet he’ll be rocking out all night long!

Sam and Selena’s relationship is built on pure sarcasm and bullshitting—in the best way possible. No one can make the bride laugh quite like Sam, whether it’s with his outrageous stories or his one-of-a-kind outlook on life. He’s got a talent for ad-libbing songs, and after a few vodka pineapples, you can bet he’ll be the life of the party!

Growing up down the street from each other, Selena and Ethan were destined to be friends forever. Their friendship has been filled with nonstop laughter, endless shit talking, and unfortunately, Ethan's nasty farts. A natural-born entertainer and crowd favorite, Ethan’s larger-than-life personality makes him the perfect choice to co-host the reception!

The bride would describe Vince as truly one of a kind. He’s one of the easiest people to be around, always making every room brighter and filled with laughter. Vince brings out Selena’s weird side, effortlessly making her laugh with his ridiculous faces or signature hunchback walk. With hips that absolutely don’t lie, Vince knows how to work a crowd and will keep the reception lively.

Selena and John would like to invite guests to explore Chicago on Saturday, August 16th. Guests are free to stay as long as they would like. The newlyweds will be staying the night in Chicago and all are welcome to do the same. The itinerary of the day is as follows:

Oakbrook Hotel Checkout: 10:00am

Break: 10 - 3:30pm

We'd like to give guests time to checkout, eat lunch, and tour the city freely before meeting for the boat tour at 3:30pm.
