It all started on a boat. Seth invited some friends out to the lake, and Emily being the Minnesota girl she is, couldn’t resist the opportunity to be on the water her first summer in Ohio.

From there, we got to know each other more through Seth working on the SPO houses, one of which Emily lived her first year as a missionary with SPO. All of her roommates picked up on the chemistry, but nothing happened until Emily’s 2 years of missionary work was complete. We remained friends during this time and enjoyed seeing each other at events and gatherings.

At a Kenny Chesney concert with friends in August of 2022, Seth knew that he wanted to spend more time with Emily and decided to ask her on a date. Their first date was a rainy evening at the West Jeff Ox Roast, a local town tradition held during Labor Day weekend. Many more dates followed from boat rides, breweries, and trips with family and friends.

A little over a year and a half of dating, Seth finally asked Emily to marry him. The proposal happened in front of cows, and Seth managed to almost pull off a complete ‘Huffman surprise’. Ask us for the story!
