Like many couples during covid time, Shannon and Luke both swiped right on Hinge. Shannon had recently moved to Baltimore from Delaware and wasn't sure if she was ready to start dating in this city. Luke quickly persuaded her that the men in Baltimore weren't all that bad.
After chatting on the dating app for a day or two, Luke asked Shannon out on a date. Shannon was skeptical being that she was in a new city and didn't know many people in case Luke tried to kidnap her or wasn't who he appeared to be on the app. She actually kept the fact that she was seeing someone in Baltimore from her family, so she didn't worry them.
Their first date went great and so did their second. They quickly started spending more and more of their free time together doing different things around Baltimore so Shannon could become more comfortable in her new home. Shannon soon met all of Luke's friends that lived nearby in Virginia and Luke met Shannon's friends in Delaware. Friends and family approved of their match and cheered them on as they continued to date.
Shannon had been patiently awaiting the proposal from Luke. She had gone to look at rings back in December of 2022 and they had discussed planning to get married in the Fall of 2024. By the Summer of 2023, she was getting inpatient. She kept reminding Luke that booking and planning a wedding takes time and he was cutting it close.
Luke and Shannon were on Luke's family vacation at Bethany Beach and Shannon's mom had just joined the group for the week. Not too much later on August 9, Luke sneakily passed Shannon his drinking cup. He asked Shannon if she thought the drink tasted funny. Shannon of course took a sip and told him there was nothing in the cup. He said, "Yes there is." Shannon then shook the cup and felt something rattling around in it. When she removed the lid, she saw the ring box and was shocked. When she looked up, Luke was on one knee proposing. Of course she said yes and the planning began!
