We could try and list everything, but we would definitely miss lots of things out. Here is a short list of things we love or want to do in VT:

Many State Parks/Forests, Beaches and locations for recreational activities.
Vermont is amazing and there is lots to do in the State. If you're wanting to travel and see more in the Northeast, don't be put off by the distance, it'll be worth it. ;)
Niagara Falls is about a 7 hour drive from Burlington, VT, with a scenic drive through the Adirondacks and up state NY, with Lake Erie & Lake Ontario either side.
New York City is just under a 6 hour drive from Burlington, VT, with a scenic drive through Southern VT and along the Hudson Valley.
Boston, MA is about a 3 and a half hour drive from Burlington, VT.
Portland, ME is about a 4 and a half hour drive from Burlington, VT.
