Shannon was the most charming and beautiful cashier at the Shoprite of Greenwich from 2008-2011. This earned her the nickname "Shoprite Hottie".

John, as a front end runner and direct supervisor to Shannon, took advantage of the power dynamic and selected her as his work-bride. In exchange for flirting, John rewarded Shannon with preferred tasks during her shifts and overlooked tardiness and extended break times.

After Shannon was fired from Shoprite and John's captivity following being kidnapped by a marine recruiter, they stayed in touch as good friends - enjoying a hot dog omelette at Key City Diner together when they were both in town. Their annulled work marriage, turned friendship began a new chapter when John's mom's car was towed as a result of an unlit, partially obstructed sign placed by the Philadelphia Parking Authority. Shannon, no stranger to calling out of work, blew off her internship to drive John to the impound lot featured on A&E Network's "Parking Wars" on Christopher Columbus Boulevard across from the IKEA. There was something in the air that morning beyond the sweet smell of Scandinavian ready-to-assemble furniture.

Shannon was not so easily convinced to go steady with John, though. Romance was not enough, she needed stability. Only after John graduated from Colorado State University and secured gainful employment as a temp customer service representative at a call center - she could no longer resist. They agreed on a courtship - and the rest, as they say, was history.

They agreed to a betrothal after John gave birth to their illegitimate daughter, Pepper, in 2022.
