Are you planning on renting an RV/camper for the weekend? We know a lot of details can go into coordinating this so hopefully the info below can help, but don't hesitate to text us!

What website do I use?

We have heard feedback that Outdoorsy has been a better experience than RV Share in terms of getting bookings confirmed and price transparency- and that is what we have experienced as well so that is what we are recommending.

There are so many options where do I start?

We recommending first searching around the area that will be convenient for you. If you're getting it delivered try looking around Silverthorne and Breckenridge. If you're planning on using an RV as your transport into the mountains from the airpot try searching around Aurora, Denver, or Arvada. If the owners don't have a lot of pictures you can always search the year and model and look up the layout.

RV or Camper or Van?

100% up to you and it does not affect us/ campground set up. We are going with a camper and going the delivery route for less hassle.

Delivery?

We found a camper that was within the delivery range and able to deliver it for around $150 fee, this seemed more reasonable to us than the insurance fees we were finding with the drivable RVs. We also just didn’t want to mess with the camper anymore than we had to- so the delivery includes the owner setting it up at the campground for us and closing it down as well.

The campground does not have an address- if you need to input a specific address for delivery we have been using this address 4344 Swan Mountain Rd, Dillon, CO 80435 and then messaging the owner to let them know it will actually need to be delivered to the campground (Windy Point Group)- This lake is very popular camping destination so most RV/camper owners should be familiar with the exact campground.

Pick up/ drop off time: The earliest you should have your camper delivered is 2pm on Thursday (6/13), and the latest you should have it picked up is noon on Sunday (6/16). We will be there the entire weekend between those dates/times, so if works out that you can’t be there for your campers delivery and the owner is down with just giving us instructions and leaving it to relay that info you than we’re totally fine with that too!

Does the camp have plug-in sites?

The campground does NOT have electricity- there are no plug-ins for power at the sites... but we will make sure everyone coordinates and has power for the weekend!

Generators- This will most likely be the easiest option to get power to your camper/ RV/van. We have found the majority of owners offer generator rental as an add-on expense for an extra $30-50/night. This is about the same price as renting one from Lowe’s. This is what we are doing for our camper- I am sure we will have to make some gas station runs for refuels but we will coordinate that. If you’re having issues finding a rental with a generator option definitely let us know!

Propane- We found some campers have some interesting power options, like a combination of solar/ propane power- I think this is totally fine, one of the ones we almost went with was half powered by propane and we would have just requested they give us an extra tank when they dropped it off.

Before settling on a power source I would talk to the owner/look at the listing and just double check what runs off of what power- You want to make sure you will have power to hot water heater, AC, heat, refrigerator, and whatever you else you think you might want! Usually a generator will just power all of these things as if it were plugged into an outlet at the site, but every RV/camper is just so different- sometimes the engine powers the 2 prong outlets but not 3 prongs, blah blah

What's up with all these tanks?

There are up to 3 tanks in an RV/camper- fresh water, gray water, and black water. Fresh water is… fresh water, the black and gray tanks are waste water

We will have access to a spigot so fresh water tank should be able to be filled if the owner does not fill it for you

There is NOT a dump station at the campground

There is a dump station 10mins down the road

Some owners will charge an extra fee if these tanks are not dumped- if you are getting the camper delivered I would message the owner before booking and let them know the campground does not have dumping capabilities so you will be unable to empty those tanks, ideally that fee can be waived or calculated into the delivery fee

Extras/ Add-ons

There are many “add-ons” (like the generator), that owners offer, especially when booking through Outdoorsy - absolutely add whatever your heart desires but below are some common offerings

Chairs- if they offer these for free I’d take them up on that!

Games- if they look fun let us know and we’d be happy to cover the cost for renting group games!

Solar panels- Could be good just for extra charging/ portability!

KAYAKS/CANOES- If your owner if offering either of these options (and there’s not some crazy rules associated with it) we beg you to please tack it on and we will cover the cost- We’re trying to get people out on the water without having to coordinate getting everyone to the marina to rent!
