We're getting married!
A note from the couple: Hi everyone! We are super excited to GET MARRIED but also to celebrate with you all! Each of you have made an impact in some way in both of our lives. We are looking forward to the diverse blend of folks we hope to celebrate with- people from various seasons throughout our lives! From Texas, to Colorado, to Mexico, to the Midwest, to Idaho, to Wyoming; we love each of our communities and are excited to reconnect with you all. Our hope for our wedding is that it would be not only a sweet time of celebration, but ultimately a worshipful, Christ-honoring event. We realize that the gift of marriage begins with a weighty decision: making a covenant promise to one another not just before friends and family, but before the Lord. A covenant is something not to be broken. Not only this, but marriage is a reflection of Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Christ laid down His life for His bride (the church, those who believe) when He was crucified on that hill, bearing the punishment for sinners: God’s wrath. God’s wrath was satisfied because Christ was fully man and fully God, and without sin. He was the only sufficient sacrifice that could have successfully taken away the guilt of man. He was resurrected and is now ascended at the right hand of the Father. Now any who come to Him and confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in heir hearts that God raised Him from the dead will be saved (Romans 10:9). Jesus calls us to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34). In marriage, we are called to lay our lives down for one another just as He has. Scripture describes the roles in marriage beautifully: the wife ought to submit to her husband just as the church submits to Christ (Ephesians 5:22-24) and the husband ought to love, lead, serve, and cherish his wife just as Christ has done for the church (Ephesians 5:25-29). The two then become one flesh, no longer looking out for the interest of themselves but seeking to outdo one another with honor and service. Please pray for us and our marriage; that we would be founded on these glorious truths of God’s Word and live our lives in honor of what Jesus Christ has done for us. Thank you and we love you all!
