Just a few minutes drive from the hotel, the entertainment district is a great spot to walk around, with plenty of restaurants, a bowling alley, movie theater, live music, comedy club, and an outlet mall right next door!
There's a bridge in the back corner of the hotel parking lot that will take you directly into Dunne Park! There are also forest preserves all around/walking distance from the hotel.
We can't necessarily recommend the casino since neither of us are gamblers, but it's less than a mile from the hotel, so we figured we'd add it!
Stan's is a Chicago staple for some of the best coffee and donuts! Just a few minutes walk from the hotel, definitely check it out.
There's also a Starbucks right in The Westin for a quicker coffee option :)
Close to Rosemont, downtown Park Ridge and Edison Park have lots of great restaurants and things to do!
One of the best ways to take in the Chicago sights is on a river cruise architecture tour! They have either a 45 or 90 minute tour. Highly recommend!
North Ave Beach is one of the most popular, but any of the beaches along the lakeshore in Chicago are a fun time!
The Cubs will be away during wedding week, which will actually probably make for a more tame atmosphere if you want to check out Wrigley! The Wrigleyville area is filled with restaurants and bars and is a great neighborhood to walk around!
One of the things we love most about living in Chicago is our Lincoln Park neighborhood. The zoo and other nearby sites (check out the Caldwell Lily Pool, too) are great for walking around and exploring. And, it's all free!
Shannon loves any pizza (Mac not so much), but these are our top recommendations for both thin crust and deep dish. There are multiple locations of each throughout the city and suburbs.
These are some of our favorite coffee spots in Chicago. They all have various locations throughout the city and you can't go wrong with any of them!
There'll be a bit of a gap time between when the ceremony ends and when the reception cocktail hour begins, so we wanted to give some ideas of things to do in the area!
Hang out and grab a drink/snack in the front room of Burning Bush Brewery. At 6pm, head around back to the River Room for our reception cocktail hour.
If you're up for a little nature stroll, check out the river trail! To get there from the brewery, head north on Rockwell St down a couple blocks then turn left on Berteau Ave and you'll see a trail entrance from there.
*May not be a great idea for high heel wearers.
If you want to soak up the (hopefully) nice summer day, Horner Park is a large park and nature area right down the road (to get there from the brewery, head west on Irving Pk Rd, cross the river, and you'll see the park entrance on the right)!
On the drive between the church and brewery, Hexe is one of our favorite spots for the atmosphere (large patio), sandwiches/pastries, and coffee.
Bonus: they also serve alcohol :)
*For a coffee option closer to the reception venue, there's a Dunkin' right down the street from the brewery.
Great spot for drinks/food about a 15 min walk east from the brewery on Irving Pk Rd.
Other local bars/restaurants nearby: Laschet's Inn, The Rambler, Grace & Leavitt, and Pete's Place
